Hi-freakin-larious

Okay, so yesterday was my day off. Carrie's working Fridays now, so I had the place basically to myself. I was feeling exceptionally lazy and tired all morning, so I just kinda lounged around and watched horrible movies on TV, like RoboCop 3. I'm debating whether or not to dignify that movie with an actual Review or just blow it off. The fact that Frank Miller was at all associated with the project just makes me a little sick.

Anyway, I also caught a few minutes of a fine, fine flick called Black Samurai. And I thoguth RoboCop 3 was a bad movie. At least Black Samurai is a jaw-dropping-in-astonishment bad movie that's enjoyably bad. It stars that guy from Enter the Dragon. You know—Jim Kelly. It's great. All the "whoosh" sound effects for punches, kicks, and weapons are the exact same sound effect and dubbed randomly over the action. About 80% of the dialogue was added in post-production to scenes that originally had no dialogue, so that characters only speak with their backs to you or if they're offscreen. It's bloody brilliant.

In the afternoon I managed to write that Review, and I scanned in a whole bunch of stuff for my next Article. Then she got home and I cooked a great sausage meal. Here's how it goes:
Take a big-ass pat of butter and sautee a whole onion and a little bit of garlic, like five or six cloves, in it. Then after that cooks down a little put in some sun-dried tomato torte and mix it all up good. In the meantime boil up your big 'ol sausages so they're all cooked and hot, and then once your onions are almost caramelized put in the sausages and brown them just a little bit. Tasty? Shut up!

After dinner I was gonna do laundry and whatnot. But then Brandy called and wanted to come over, and that was a much better idea than actually working. So she headed on over, but like a few minutes before she got there one of Carrie's old college rommates (Becky) called out of the blue to say that thier college friend Clay (whom they hadn't seen in years) was having a birthday party and that they should go surprise him. So Brandy showed up and Carrie very apologetically left to go hang out with her college buds.

Brandy and I ended up going to The Rosewood for dinner. She had meatloaf and I had just a salad (a big-assed salad). It was good, but it took quite a while for the food to show up. They've only been open three weeks and are still working out the kinks.

On the way home Brandy got a call from Mathais wondering what she was doing, and she informed them correctly that she was hanging out with me. So Sandy, Mathias, and Michael Tanner said they'd come down and hang out at my place. Brandy and I put on Josie and the Pussycats, and everybody showed up towards like the last 20 minutes or so. All of us universally agreed that this is the best line of the movie:

JOSIE: If I could go back in time and take it all back, I would.

MELANIE: That would be so cool. If I could go back in time, I'd want to meet Snoopy!

Hi-freakin-larious. We all bullshitted for a while, and I was telling everybody about Black Samurai, when what should I stumble upon while flipping channels? That's right: Spaceballs! No, no, just the last half hour of Black Samurai. My god, it's like it was edited by a monkey.

Brandy eventually left because she's babysitting the kids today (Saturday), from like 8:30 to 5:30, so she needed a good night's sleep. Carrie called on her way home from the par-tay to ask if I was still having a fun time with Brandy.

"No," I said, "but I'm having a fun time with Sandy, Mathias, and Michael Tanner!"

"Huh?" was her witty reply.

She got home shortly thereafter, and shortly after that everybody was getting sleepy (and Total Recall wasn't holding our attention very well), so they all went home, and Carrie & I went to bed. The end.
