New review

Here, here's that review of The Guru that I promised you. I have to take a shower and then go to Fools Play now, so it doesn't look like I'll be able to get to Bubba Ho-Tep or Lost in Translation today. I promise I'll do one of them tomorrow. Bubba Ho-Tep, on account of I seen it first.

Work-at-home Day

Yesterday (Friday), Carrie worked from home like I usually do! Around 10:45 as I was making an eight-egg breakfast scramble (to be shared equally between us) I went into the office and said, "Hey, it's almost 11:00 and you're still in pajamas. Isn't working at home nice?"

The reason she was working at home was that she was making mix CDs for the store so that people don't go crazy listening to the same background music all the time. So she was actually on this computer all day, which left me time to get on one of the laptops (Raichu this time) and do about ten pages on my revision of Resolving Equations. I put on some headphones and stuck Tangent's Cyclops' Lament in Raichu's CD drive and pissa! I'm getting back in the writing groove! That kicks so much arse.

For dinner we went to the Rosewood Cafe with Carrie's folks, and wouldn't you know it, but Melissa, Chritine (whom I haven't seen in a really long time for some reason), and Travis showed up when we were about halfway through.

Then in the evening I took Carrie out on a date to see Lost in Translation at The Grand Cinema just down the road. Holy crap that's a good movie. I gotta get a couple more reviews done before I get to it, but I'll let you know when I've reviewed it.

Then it was home to bed where we played computer solitaire against each other. How does that work? Well, Carrie had Raichu and I had the new computer, and we each were playing computer solitaire on our own. But after every hand we would call out how much money we had made (or it would be more accurate to say lost). Carrie actually won a few hands, so she was pretty much ahead of me, although I always came really close to winning so I was never that far down.

Magnificent splendor

Yesterday (Thursday) morning my mom, dad, and grandma came over to the apartment to pick up the "dining room" table on account of we're gonna be getting a REAL dining room table (and chairs) from Carrie's folks, so we don't need the old and busted.

First, though, we all piled in the van and I pointed them to the new Bead Factory location, and then drove them by the new house, and they were appropriately appreciative of its magnificent splendor. Then we went and had an early lunch at the Hob Nob. I had chicken & chips (chicken strips instead of fish strips), but I didn't eat it all on account of just a couple hours earlier I had made myself a four-egg scramble for breakfast (with mushrooms and two types of cheese!).

Then when we got back to the apartment I went upstairs first because I take stairs two at a time otherwise I get bored with how long it takes. I come in the front door and Fantastico starts rolling around and bein' all happy. Then she hears the rest of my family coming up the hall and suddenly looks real scared and scuttles away into the kitchen. But as soon as they got inside she came strutting back out with her head and tail held high, and was rubbing up against them and rolling around, showing off and everything.

Anyway, my dad and I fineagled the table into the back of the van (legs first) and then they all went back to Federal Way.

Later on in the afternoon (around 4:00), Brandy took her lunch break by coming over and partaking of some yummy cheese and crackers. So I got to hang out with her for a half hour or so. Neat!

Carrie went shopping after she got off work and bought a new skirt (which I haven't seen yet 'cuase she's still asleep in bed as I write this), then went to hang out with Cat. Neighbor Gary and I, however, drove up to Seattle and met up with Mike Tanner the Green Fool to see Bubba Ho-Tep. Tannerman had told us the wrong time, though (he said 9:00 when it was really 9:30), so we were there WAY early. So we walked up University Bvd to a record store 'cause Gary is a big music guy. Then we got back and stepped into the front of the ticketholders' line to wait for the film. Tannerman showed up a little bit later, and soon we were all strapped into our seats for an exciting ride down Bubba Ho-Tep lane!

It was a good little flick. I'll post a review of it here sometime soon. Um, probably today or tomorrow, actually. When I got home after midnight Carrie was already asleep (and very cute).

The end. A frog eats insects. A frog eats bugs.

Thowing you a bone

I'm just about to head off to go see Bubba Ho-Tep, so in commemoration of this event I actually completed my movie review of Punch Drunk Love. Go read it while you wait for me to put up my review of Bubba Ho-Tep. Actually, I have to write another review (for The Guru) before I can get to Bubba.

64,000 points, which is only okay

Yesterday (Wednesday), Howard stopped by and informed me that he was gonna bring a couple of people by to look at the apartment next week. He also said that he tried calling but that it said our phone was disconnected. I tried it and it worked, so I gave him our phone number in case he just called the wrong one.

In the evening I went to Hells Kitchen (notice how there's no apostrophe? It's just "Hells") to listen to Neighbor Gary's band NMVGPTS (No Moving Parts). It was pretty cool, and there weren't that many people smoking so I didn't get all that bothered. I actually got there like 45 minutes before they were going to start their set, so I played Ms. Pac-Man for a long time. I'm really good at the arcade standup Ms. Pac-Man. I only saw the "Act III" demo once this time, though, which is only okay. I got like 64,000 points, which is only okay (the high score on that machine was somewhere around 101,000).

I enjoyed the set, but Gary said that he was playing too sloppy. I'm so not qualified to judge that.

Tonight we're gonna see Bubba Ho-Tep with the two Mikes, and I'm very sexcited for that.

I also changed over all my archives to the blogger format, so now the whole site is all unified. As Superfly Snuka said: "We're gonna take it and make it all together."

Various dairy products

What actually happened yesterday (Tuesday)? Let's see if'n I can remember.

I did remember to buy printer paper. Thanks for reminding me. I put Raichu back together, and last night in bed while I was re-reading stuff I had written a year ago, Carrie was playing solitaire on Raichu. A good time was had by all.

I had a really bad headache ghost like from 4:00 until I went to bed.

Um, Carrie taught a class so she was home most of the day making earrings for Amy's wedding (this Saturday).

I actually remembered to write the Fools Play newsletter. Not like last week.

I bought various dairy products at Fred Meyer when I deposited the $200 dollars Carrie gave me on Monday (minus $40).

That's really all I can think of. Gary's band, NMVGPTS (No Moving Parts) is having a gig tonight at Hell's Kitchen. I'm gonna go but I don't know how long I can stay; that place is really smoky and me plus smoke do not equal a very good time. Stupid lungs!

Back in the verge, slave... but you, you're okay. Get out here.

One item makes the crossover from verge to reality...

One item returns from reality to the verge...

And a third item seems forever lost in the verge...

LOTS of news today. It turns out we're not moving next week as we had thought, but next month. Carrie is much relieved, as it will give her more time to pack. I, however, am kind of itching to get this move out of the verge and into reality. But, oh, well, we'll save several hundred dollars this way.

Here's something that is no longer on the verge, but now a part of actual reality:

No, that's not Raichu. It's my new old computer! I recently bought a Compaq Presario 1247 Notebook Computer off of ebay, but I didn't want to say anything about it to anybody until I got it in my hands and knew it was all working correctly (knowing how crappy-ass ebay stuff can be). I haven't decided what to name this one. The cool thing is that it came with a battery, so now I have two perfectly good laptop batteries so I can type twice as long without a power chord. Alternately, I might be able to actually resurrect Raichu from the grave and just put him into active retirement, using this new computer to charge batteries and then using them in Raichu (since all that's really wrong with Raichu is that you can't plug him in or charge batteries in him). I'll see if I can't put Raichu back together sometime soon. Oh, and I can also write this new computer off as a business expense when it comes tax time!

There was a lot of trauma, though, because at first it refused to let me install Word into this computer. It said that there was already a version of Word installed (there wasn't), and it gave me a message that I needed to go to the Control Panel and use "Add/Remove Programs" to remove or modify the old version. But when I went to the Control Panel and used "Add/Remove Programs" on it, it gave me a message that there was already a version of Word installed (there wasn't), and that needed to go to the Control Panel and use "Add/Remove Programs" to remove or modify the old version. Except I WAS using "Add/Remove Programs" and it was telling me that I was doing it wrong and what I should really be doing was using "Add/Remove Programs."

I LOVE WINDOWS.

I LOVE BEING PUNCHED IN THE GUT.

SHUT UP.

Eventually after many hours of agony I remembered that Compaq Presario 1247 Notebook Computers actually have two hard drives, the second one being a complete system backup. So I dug around in the second hard drive until I eventually found an .exe that completely reformatted the first hard drive back to its factory settings. Then since it didn't have that bizarre ghost Word floating around in it, I easily installed it again. It only took, oh, about ten hours. But now I have a laptop again so I can commence writing. I'm really torn whether to re-write Resolving Equations first or just jump right in and start plugging away on Static.

Anyway, Carrie came home today (HOORAY!) and immediately put $200 in cash into my hands (HOORAY!), so now she has completely paid back her half of the Toyota's down payment. She came with me to pick up my tapes in the afternoon, then in the evening she hung out with Viki and Devon while I watched rasslin' with Neighbor Gary. And also put a whole bunch of laundry away.

The thing that's floating way out there in the verge with no sign of coming in... I'll just leave it there for now.

Hey, remind me to buy more printer paper. I'm completely freakin' out, and I can write it off as a business expense when it comes tax time.

An equitable trade

Yesterday (Sunday) I watched Ghostbusters while I was doing dishes and cleaning up like crazy in prep for the move one week from, well, yesterday (Sunday). Anyway, the scene where the Stay-Pufft Marshmallow Man first appears has got to be one of the ten funniest single moments in film history. Man, to this day I still laugh my ass off even though I know it's coming.

At practice a couple of the members of Lipschtick, another improv troup, came over and we practiced with them. Two of us (probably Ed & Tanner) are gonna do a show up in Seattle with them on October 4th, and then later on we'll do a co-show with them down in Oly. An equitable trade.

I forgot to take a photo of The Bead Factory's new site yesterday... again. I better get on that.

Going postal

After Carrie left for Chicago yesterday (Saturday), I was a man on a mission. A mission doomed to fail.

I received a not in my mailbox on Friday telling me that I had a package waiting down at the Martin Luther King Jr. Street Post Office (on a side note, why is it that in almost every city I've been to the Martin Luther King Jr. Street is in the worst part of town?). Simultaneously, Carrie needed me to drop off a package of Amy's wedding jewelry at the Post Office. Hey, two birds with one stone, right?

Not quite. I drove down MLK Jr. St. and kept on driving around the blocks until I finally located the Post Office, which was just basically in a tiny storefront space without hardly any signage. Upon going inside I discover that this particular Post Office is closed on Saturday. What a day. Groovin' wit choo. I then had to drive all the way back down to Proctor because for some reason that's the only Post Office that is open on Saturday. Car-razy. So I mailed off Amy's package but failed to grab my own.

Fools Play was the Meter format. It's nice to know that Carrie & my efforts in making that thing didn't go to waste.

See you there

Yesterday (Friday) was a bizzy day. In the morning we went over to the new house to sign paperwork and do a walkthrough thang. Then we went out for breakfast at that Milwaukee Cafe that's just across from the new Bead Factory site. Then in the afternoon we went over to Mark & Viki's in order to take their kids to the Puyallup Fair.

The Puyallup Fair is a big ol' tradition around here, combining the very best of carnie and country fair lifestyles. I got a corndog, curly fries, and scones. Lots of scones. The Puyallup Fair is big on scones. Also onion burgers, which I got one to go and ate it when we got home. The kids wanted corndogs, which is very strange because they don't like the corndog batter, just the hot dog on the inside. So why didn't they say they just wanted hot dogs? Shut up! Carrie & I ended up eating the batter. We were there for like four hours and there were periodic bouts of trauma. Carrie came up with the policy that whenever Sophia started to cry she would just sit down and not move until she stopped. That worked pretty well.

Anyway, this morning Carrie left for Chicago and one of those big bead shows. Don't like it when she does that.

An accurate chronicle

I just learned that today be "Talk Like a Pirate Day." Well, then, arrr.

Susan's birthday be tomorrow, but seein' as how she's on t'other side o't'International Date Line, I made her a card for today 'cause I'm not aye if she's one day ahead or behind, and I want t'play it safe. It's an accurate chronicle o'her time thus far in Australia. You can watch it if you want.

Last night rasslin' showed t'first-ever televised 60-Minute Iron Man Match, this one between Brock Lesnar (heel) and Kurt Angle (Champion, face). Brock won 5 falls t'4. If this be any indication, they be really interestin' matches, with a lot more strategy than you might expect. For example, Brock intentionally gave Kurt a fall by hittin' him with a chair (sorry, a steel chair) just t'weaken Kurt enough t'where he could score two pins on him in rapid succession, thus comin' out ahead. It had kind o'a strange endin', but it was quite an experience.

Well, all right then.

I made the best beef stew ever for dinner. It had beef (of course), onions, tomatoes, carrots, and mushrooms. The secret, though? Red wine. During various cooking stages almost a whole cup of red wine gets added to the process. It makes it highly delicious. I'll have to make it again some time in the new house.

Yes, you read that right. I said "new house."

CARRIE AND I ARE MOVING INTO A HOUSE.

At the end of September. It's like just ten blocks up the street from here and supercute. Yes, this is what I've been alluding to all week. It really just kinda fell into our laps. The woman who owns it is a good customer at The Bead Factory, so she knows Carrie and would rather have us live there than just some stranger. I tend to agree. It's only $25 more a month than the rent here and we get a yard (two actually), a porch, a back deck, fruit trees, grapevines, an actual kitchen (not just a hallway with some appliances in it). It needs some work before we take full posession of it, but Mme. Landlady says we can paint the walls (if she approves the colors). I'm kinda tired of living in pure-white apartments, so that'll be nice. I will really miss this place, though, becuase it is quite frankly one of the coolest apartments in Tacoma.

Anyway, after dinner Carrie had to teach a class and I really just zonked out. I took a two-hour nap, and then just ended up going to bed at like 10:30. Carrie stopped by Devon's after class and got home around midnight.

To verge or not to verge

I will have BIG NEWS tomorrow one one of those life things that will no longer be on the verge of happening, but actually happening. I expect another one to shift from "verge" status to "actual" status any time now as well.

Vague enough for you?

Anyway, Brandy, now that she's a babe at at The Babe Factory, can easily stop by my pad for lunch. So yesterday we went down to the Burger Bar and got teriyaki. Or rather she bought teriyaki, and then I ate a lot of it.

After we picked it up and were driving back to the apartment I was talking about the Toyota for some reason, and then I pointed and said, "That looks like the car right there. Hmm. That looks like Melissa in the driver's seat."

Sure enough, it was Carrie driving Melissa around. She showed up at the apartmetn soon after and we ALL ate Brandy's food while The Stepford Wives was on TV. That's one of those films that I really should see all the way through. Never have.

Making their way to the ring

Carrie slept in until like noon yesterday (Sunday). I tried to think of the last time that I actually slept without having to wake up to an alarm, and I really coudln't. Gee, I wonder if that's why I'm so tired recently?

Last night was the much-vaunted Seattle Cage Match invovling Fools Play Improv. Much to my shock and amazement we actually won. By ten votes. Not that I didn't think that we would be worse than the other team, but I thought for sure that since we're from Oly and they're actually from up north, they would be able to stack the audience in thier favor. But we actaully had a ton of support, and more importantly all of the people invovled in putting on the Cage Match supported us. We did a VirtueCo scene that we mis-timed so that we still had like a minute more to go when the buzzer rang on us. But it was good fun, and a lot of fun to play with Nathan Geyer the Orange Fool for one of his once-every-three-months appearances.

I got home just in time to watch Conan O'Brien's 10 Year Anniversary Special. Hi-larious. Carrie got home at the same time with tacos. Hi-licious.

Reason I can't remember !

Instead of going to Fools Play on Saturday, Carrie & I went to Sarah & Travis's housewarming party. Joel Dale of Improsia and Brooks showed up, too. A funtime was had by all. Now that they live closer (technically), it might be feasable to go up and see them more often. That would be a good thing I think. I think.

I wuz gwine git sum werk dun during the day, but that didn't end up happening for some reason I can't remember. I watched a lot of The Powerpuff Girls - The Movie. Man, I wish they'd release a letterboxed version of that film. I'd watch it a lot.

Carrie had the jewelry show over at Ever After. Karla at Ever After got her store signs made, and the logo looks really cool, but the company she used totally futzed them up so that they have big horizontal lines running across them. It's pretty funny. In a bad way.

Bits of crappy

I don't know why, but this Article I'm writing is just taking me forever to get started. I'm very un-motivated. Yesterday (Friday) I wrote a cool little program that scrolls through a series of images with "previous" and "next" buttons. It's important to the Article.

Anyway, yesterday was Class Signup Day at The Bead Factory, so I would periodically get calls from Missa telling me which classes had filled, and then I would make the changes and upload them to the website. I also just lounged around watching bits of crappy TV and movies.

For dinner, though, I made this kickass Chicken with tomato sauce and mozarella cheeze meal. It came out a little sloppier than I thought it would (too much tomato sauce). But it was highly tasty.

I ended up going to Bartell Drugs twice, once to get some Sudafed for Carrie, and once to get some bobby pins so she could fancy them up for her jewelry show at Ever After today.

New review.. scary phone

I just put up my Review of the Japanese sensation Ringu. Take a wook!

A while ago I was watching Wes Craven's New Nightmare, and in the movie the phone rings, and at the EXACT SAME TIME my own phone rang as well! Scary! It was just Melissa, though, telling me which workshops were full.

A cuspy, vergey type deal thingy

Yesterday I went over to The Bead Factory for a meeting with Viki about the new WireMaster logo I'm cooking up for them. It was a good meeting.

After Carrie got off work we ordered Pizza, and Brandy came by to bead with Carrie—Brandy's first beading adventure ever. She made a couple necklaces and earrings. It's kinda crazy having her work at The Bead Factory. Crazy like a fox!

It really feels like I'm at the cusp of some big things right now, from all fronts. Home, work, and hobby. I don't want to say anything now for fear of jynxing it, but I've recently had big news on all fronts. We'll see, small one. We'll see.

Schleepy time tales

I slept all day yesterday. Well, technically I was up and walking around and working and driving and stuff, but basically I was asleep the whole time.

After I dropped my tapes off I swung by Jack in the Box and got a burger for Carrie before picking her up and taking her to the bank. Then she picked up Greek food on the way home for dinner.

Then it was more sleep for me. Always more sleep.

Old Tyme Shoppe...

I forgot to do this thang yesterday!

On Monday, Neighbor Gary finally got back from his scenic tour of Roadside America, from Jersey to Northern California. He took like 12 rolls of film or something, and I am actually looking forward to seeing them all. Zaphod seems glad he's back.

Carrie still ain't feeling too hot. But Monday I was all zonked out all day. I could not for the life of me wake up, no matter how many Diet Cokes I drank! It was shiz-nitty.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I went to the store to get some stuff (garbage bags, onions, garlic, salami), and I impromptu bought a chotlate tate. I made tuna salad for Carrie with ton's o' onions, and she kept blowing it at me last night when she couldn't sleep!

This morning they showed my all-time favorite episode of The X-Files: the 40s baseball one.

The next second:

I had the distinct pleasure of watching Remo Willaims: The Adventure Begins, completely unedited on the Action Channel. If you haven't seen this flick, I highly recommend you check it out. Actually, I don't really think I could consider seeing it a "pleasure," and I can't really recommend that anyone actually see it.

I had to leave for FP practice before it was over. me/sad.

Well, that's not gonna work

Carrie and I were looking for a place to have our wedding, and we were thinking about this one place. So since we both had yesterday (Saturday) off, we were going to go there and scope it out. Well, we printed out all the material on it and as Carrie turned on her shower I was to call them. So I'm reading through the paperwork and I noticed that the available hours seemed to end at 10:30 at night. So I looked closer and sure enough you had to clear outta there by 10:30 at night.

When I told Carrie, her response was simple. "Well, that's not gonna work."

Indeed! We're gonna have a night wedding, and we want the reception to last as long as possible (i.e., after midnight). So now we're really thinking about having it at Court in the Square in Seattle. It's a kickass space. We'll have to talk to the people there next week.

Anyway, since we weren't going to be driving out to our original destination, we called Brandy to see what she was doing with the kids. She was taking them to Freaky Friday later on, so beforehand we all met at Point Defiance Park (at the "beach" section of it) and hung out as the kids ran around in the freezing Puget Sound water. Later we took them to an area of Point Defiance that had Go Karts and miniature golf. Trevor paid his own way into the Go Karts (although there were only like two other people on the track with him at the time), while Julian and Sophia played miniature golf with Brandy (Trevor eventually joined them).

I came home from Fools Play early (i.e., right after the show) 'cause Carrie was feelin' a little sicky. She had me go buy her a Jack in the Box milkshake, and I bought myself an Ultimate Cheesburger on account of I hadn't eaten dinner that day (unless you count some slices of swiss cheese).

Hi-freakin-larious

Okay, so yesterday was my day off. Carrie's working Fridays now, so I had the place basically to myself. I was feeling exceptionally lazy and tired all morning, so I just kinda lounged around and watched horrible movies on TV, like RoboCop 3. I'm debating whether or not to dignify that movie with an actual Review or just blow it off. The fact that Frank Miller was at all associated with the project just makes me a little sick.

Anyway, I also caught a few minutes of a fine, fine flick called Black Samurai. And I thoguth RoboCop 3 was a bad movie. At least Black Samurai is a jaw-dropping-in-astonishment bad movie that's enjoyably bad. It stars that guy from Enter the Dragon. You know—Jim Kelly. It's great. All the "whoosh" sound effects for punches, kicks, and weapons are the exact same sound effect and dubbed randomly over the action. About 80% of the dialogue was added in post-production to scenes that originally had no dialogue, so that characters only speak with their backs to you or if they're offscreen. It's bloody brilliant.

In the afternoon I managed to write that Review, and I scanned in a whole bunch of stuff for my next Article. Then she got home and I cooked a great sausage meal. Here's how it goes:
Take a big-ass pat of butter and sautee a whole onion and a little bit of garlic, like five or six cloves, in it. Then after that cooks down a little put in some sun-dried tomato torte and mix it all up good. In the meantime boil up your big 'ol sausages so they're all cooked and hot, and then once your onions are almost caramelized put in the sausages and brown them just a little bit. Tasty? Shut up!

After dinner I was gonna do laundry and whatnot. But then Brandy called and wanted to come over, and that was a much better idea than actually working. So she headed on over, but like a few minutes before she got there one of Carrie's old college rommates (Becky) called out of the blue to say that thier college friend Clay (whom they hadn't seen in years) was having a birthday party and that they should go surprise him. So Brandy showed up and Carrie very apologetically left to go hang out with her college buds.

Brandy and I ended up going to The Rosewood for dinner. She had meatloaf and I had just a salad (a big-assed salad). It was good, but it took quite a while for the food to show up. They've only been open three weeks and are still working out the kinks.

On the way home Brandy got a call from Mathais wondering what she was doing, and she informed them correctly that she was hanging out with me. So Sandy, Mathias, and Michael Tanner said they'd come down and hang out at my place. Brandy and I put on Josie and the Pussycats, and everybody showed up towards like the last 20 minutes or so. All of us universally agreed that this is the best line of the movie:

JOSIE: If I could go back in time and take it all back, I would.

MELANIE: That would be so cool. If I could go back in time, I'd want to meet Snoopy!

Hi-freakin-larious. We all bullshitted for a while, and I was telling everybody about Black Samurai, when what should I stumble upon while flipping channels? That's right: Spaceballs! No, no, just the last half hour of Black Samurai. My god, it's like it was edited by a monkey.

Brandy eventually left because she's babysitting the kids today (Saturday), from like 8:30 to 5:30, so she needed a good night's sleep. Carrie called on her way home from the par-tay to ask if I was still having a fun time with Brandy.

"No," I said, "but I'm having a fun time with Sandy, Mathias, and Michael Tanner!"

"Huh?" was her witty reply.

She got home shortly thereafter, and shortly after that everybody was getting sleepy (and Total Recall wasn't holding our attention very well), so they all went home, and Carrie & I went to bed. The end.

New Review

I just put up my scathing Review of Auto Focus, so go check that out.

Last night Carrie was watching Daria and she had a sketchpad and a pencil and was drawing the hairstyles of the various characters. Well, just a few minutes ago I found the pad and was idly sketching a hairstyle when I realized it looked a heck of a lot like Carrie's hair. So I proceeded to sketch this sketch of her from memory:

Wow, that really looks a lot like her. Ain't she pretty?

Dishes are done, man !

Yesterday Carrie and I entirely cleaned the living room, Kitchen, and bathroom. Why did I capitalize Kitchen? I don't know! Anyway, we were very intent on getting everything completley clean. Brandy even called to see if we could hang out, but NO! We got all the freakin' dishes done, man! Please forgive me for quoting a line from Don't Tell Dad the Babysitter's Dead.

It was so unblievably hot yesterday that I actually went and watched Smackdown! over at Gary's because he has no southern sun exposure at his pad, making it much, much cooler. Then I would rush back over here during the commercial breaks and take out a load of garbage or do a handful of dishes, then rush back to watch Kurt Angle fight the Undertaker (fantastic) or Rey Mysterio vs Tajiri. Hmm... I think Gary's supposed to be back any time now.

I entered a whole bunch of Fark photoshop contests yesterday, and now ANGRY BEEF is getting a lot of traffic from Fark. Neat-o! Now if only people would buy stuff from the ANGRY BEEF store...

Futzed that one up

I really futzed yesterday up. I didn't really get any tapes done until the evening. When I went to drop my tapes off in Fife I realized that I had forgotten to actually bring them with me. *Sigh*

Instead, though, I wrote a song. It's called Robots Would Never Hurt Us. It's very short and simple. Give it a wissen!

Tha's a lots o' links !

I just stumbled across this site, some of which is pretty freakin' funny: www.badtoonrising.com. I also stumbled across this one: http://theimaginaryworld.com/. Thanks to Cartoon Research for pointing those out.

Anyway, yesterday we did bills, and I'm not quite as poor as I thought I was. Almost broke instead of actually broke. So I splurged and bought another ad for ANGRY BEEF over at Wil Wheaton's website.

My downstairs neighbor called about coming and using my computer to do research about buying a new car, but I was pretty busy at the time, so I said I'd come down and knock when I was done. But when I did, nobody came to the door. Weird.

I was sick of having just loose CDs in paper sleeves hanging out in my car with no place to go on my CD rack, so I created some custom CD jewel cases for them, including Bus Driver's Memoirs of the Elephant Man, the Wastelanders' CD I made outta the free downloads on their website, and the Crazy Boy Floyds' Eight Songs in the Can CD I made a year ago or so. I really like the way that one turned out. Check it:

"Stiffie"

So I called Brandy to ask her how her road movie went and she asked, "Hey, what are you doing right now?"

"Uh, nothing right now," I said.

"Wanna come hang out with me and the kids? We're going for a walk," she said.

So I drove up to Mark and Viki's and hung out as we took the three of them for a walk down this gravel road in the woods. Highlights included a rest stop where all three of them dropped trou and pissed in the woods, a big rock they stood on (that Brandy took a picture of), a rock throwing contest where the kids stood where the rocks were supposed to land, a giant tree they named "Stiffie," and a big-ass pipe that went under the road. After we got back and the kids became glued to Nickelodeon (boo), I taught Brandy seven card Texas hold'em.

When I got back home but before I went to work I just happend to flip past Nickelodeon and saw the cartoon "My Life as a Teenage Robot," and I have to say that they might have somethign with this one. It seems to be mostly the brainchild of Rob Renzetti, who as you all know was one of the lead directors on such shows as "Dexter's Lab," "The Powerpuff Girls," and "Samurai Jack." So this show actually has the potential to be very good. The character design and timing all seem to be there, so let's see a few more episodes.

After I worked for a while (and ate my doughboy), I got a call from Carrie on the road, asking if I could meet them at Mark and Viki's to pick her up and then we could go to Trader Joe's. So I headed on up to Mark and Viki's for the second time that day and picked up not only Carrie but also the lovely and talented Christine and the lovely and talented Steph. We all went to Trader Joe's, and then we dropped Steph off at her apartmetn and Christine off at her car. Then it was home for rasslin' (I forgot it was on, so I missed Jerry "The King" Lawler's match), the highlight of which was Kane hooking up jumper cables to Shane McMahon's testicles.

Worth watching twice

In practice we worked on ERCBCR, which we've decided to call "Worth Watching Twice." A much better name? YOU decide! Right as practice was ending Geoff and Brandy got back from Nevada. Brandy walked in the house with her eyes half closed.
"Jeez, honey, you look sleepy," I said.

"I am. I'm gonna take a shower and sleep."

I can only assume that she meant that she was taking a shower and then sleeping, not doing both simultaneously.

When I got home from practice I was surprised to find that Carrie wasn't there, but she pulled up a couple of minutes later with food for dinner! Ain't she the best? Then around 6:30 I took her down to The Bead Factory because every single one of them was heading up to Canada for the night for some kind of Employee Appreciation shindig. AKA party-down, Canada-style!

I worked some more on the Bead Factory Fall Workshop stuff, then because EVERY SINGLE PERSON I KNEW in Tacoma was out of town, I headed on up to Espinoza Manor and hung out with Sandy, Mathias, and Ed for a good while. We talked about fun stuff, like the Alien movies and the differences in fauna between Washington and Florida.

I just put up my new "Of the Month" stuff for September, so be sure to check all that out. This weekend I also settled on the Article I'm gonna write, and it's a doozey. I know I was supposed to catch up on my Movie Reviews as well, but we'll see how much work I have to do today. Maybe I can get some done.
