Visiting work

I actually was able to stay awake all the live-long day yesterday (Tuesday). I got up early to do tapes. Noontime I drove up to the box in Fife, then continued on to Federal Way, where I stopped by Marlene's Market & Deli to say hi to Mathias, Sandy, and Mariah. That was interesting to see them at work. Sandy told me about a dream that she had that was all Buffy-style and even had Spike and Angel in it at one point.

After that I hopped over to my old Hallmark store to pick up some Valentine's Day supplies. I only knew two of the girls there, Erin Arntz and Erica. When Erin saw me she said, "Hey, Chris, I have a funny story for you!"

About three years ago I invited Missy and Erin and that girl who's name I can't remember over for one of my birthday parties, the first one in the apartment. They all showed up, but Missy was kinda sick due to being preggers and all. So Erin took her home kind of early. Well, to put it in Erin's own words: "I met my husband that night!"

"What?" I said. "Not at the party, though, right?"

"No, no," she said. "After the party."

So it seems that if she hadn't ever come to my birthday party she would have never met the man she ended up marrying. So I told her that I was engaged and told the whole story and everything and she was duly impressed, and brought over Erica so I could tell her, too.

I swung by Trader Joe's on the way home for some extra supplies, then swung by the box to get some more tapes.

For dinner I went over to Carrie's folks' house. It was just me and my future in-laws. It was actually kinda fun. Felt a little like family. I brought over wine and Jim cooked salmon and vegetables and made a gigantic Caesar salad (out of which I got to eat ALL the croutons). I brought over a handful of DVDs in case they wanted to watch one after dinner, and they chose Lost in Translation. So now I've seen it three times just in the week since I bought it. They didn't like it quite as much, but then again they kept on dozing off (especially Jim).

I came home and worked on tapes some more, then tried to sleep on the couch but couldn't, so I moved to the bed and put on Pirates. That helped a little, but the bed feels awfully uncomfortable to me now.
