Yesterday (Friday) I spent pretty much all day getting the house ready for the par-tay. Carrie worked 9:00 to 5:00, and went to lunch with Devon (who was teaching his class at the BF), so it was pretty much just me all day cleaning and whatnot. Carrie made out a big list of things for me to do and the order in which I was supposed to do them. I snuck a couple extra things in that weren't on the list, like putting up the badmitton stuff.
The party happened in the evening and it was a hoot and a half. A lot of people came, including some whom I hadn't seen in a long time, like Josh Sanders & Amanda, and Nathe and Alicia, who brought thier kids Abby & Eddie. Linnea brought Melina, so we had three really cute kids running around. Neighbor Gary had his camera and snapped probably close to 100 pics. I'll see if I can't get some of the pics from him on Monday and post them. There was badmitton (the two-sticks version) played, except the shuttlecocks kept going over the fence to the neighbor's yard. It was a lot of fun, except I kinda felt obligated to bounce from group to group so that people wouldn't be like, "Geez, I went to Chris's party and didn't even get to see him very much!" The final stragglers (pretty much the Fools Play people) left around 2:00 in the morning. It was a much more low-key party than last time, thank goodness. Only one person got COMPLETELY trashed, and she ended up just sleeping on the couch overnight.
The best line of the night in my opinion was said by Gus, Devon's Brazilian friend. We were both going for the bathroom at the same time, and so I asked him, "Which way do you have to go?"
"Oh, I have to pee," he said.
"Well, then you'd better go first," I said.
So he went in and a minute later I heard the toilet flush and the sink run for a bit, then he came out and said with a big smile, "Okay, I peed. And I farted... just once!"
I got several presents from people. Christine was awesome and got both Geoff and me the Spider Man 2 Triple Action Web Blaster. This way we could load it up with missiles and shoot at each other and other party guests. It was hard to play two-sticks with the thing strapped to my arm, though, and at one point Mary shot me in the crotch with it (didn't hurt). I got many DVDs as well, including Ghostbusters, Office Space, Three Amigos!, Evil Dead II, and Samurai Jack - Season 1. So all in total I got eight DVDs for my birthday. Not a bad haul.
