...because of YOU!!

Yesterday (Sunday) I was finally able to upload that new ANGRY BEEF design, so now y'all should go and buy a T-shirt or mug or something. It's pretty coo'.

Anyway. Carrie & Mary went up to Seattle for the Folklife Festival of hippie funtimes. I stayed at home and made eggs and peanut butter toast for breakfast, and then watched all of The Transformers: The Ultimate Doom (on disc 3 of the First Season Collectors Edition). I did some BF work, then came back and watched a couple more episodes while I ate Grape Nuts and leftover Girl Scout cookies.

Then I did the unthinkable and actually wrote a damned Movie Review. I am WAY out of practice, so it isn't very good, but at least I stepped back on the wagon for a moment. Hopefully I can hang on and keep writing them reviews as I go instead of falling behind by about 15 flicks.

Mike couldn't make it to practice 'cause of car trouble. Ed, Geoff, and I were all pretty tired, so it was a rather slow-paced practice, but we did get some very good stuff done. Don't ask me to remember most of it, though. Mostly we worked with Taisha, doing stage stories and hot compliments, and then moved into doing actual scenes so we could see her tendencies and whatnot.

When I got home Carrie had made me a treat of a plate of pot stickers, a bowl of black olives, some roasted green tea, and a box of Meiji Zoo Land Printed Biscuits:

See, after they went to Folklife they stopped by Uwajimaya and bought some good Japanese stuff, including the printed biscuits and something called "Dodekai Baby Star Crispy Noodle Snack, Chicken Flavored" that I am really dying to try. There was also some wasabi peas (which I can't eat right now) and some cold green tea drink, and also some sort of green tea soda or cola.

No more nuts and raisins for this boy!

Yesterday (Saturday) we woke up around 9:00 or so. I remember working on the computer a lot, but don't remember exactly what I was working on. Oh, well. Carrie was working on jewelry. Sometime around noon-ish we went down to Panamonica's so that Carrie could put her jewelry on display in a big tall case so that everyone who goes to that place can see it and will want to buy it (tis all for sale). It was cool seeing Krissy, Mary, and Devon all in one place. The "friends and family" party is tomorrow! So sexcited!

Mary came home with us and we were all three super sleepy. We lounged on the floor for a bit. I designed a new ANGRY BEEF design to be sold at the ANGRY BEEF Store, but Cafepress wouldn't let me upload it for some (dumbass) reason. Their server weren't working right or some such stuff.

Carrie & Mary watched Strike! (also known as All I wanna Do) while I did that, and eventually Carrie took Mary home. When she came back we took a nap until I had to get up to go to Fools Play. I was going to leave on time and everything, but I suddenly had to go to the bathroom. Let's just say that eating all those nuts and raisins wasn't such a good idea. No more nuts and raisins for this boy!

I didn't have time to make dinner, so Carrie loaded me up with a snack mix—Doritos, Sun Chips, Cheetos, and pretzels. I listened to NMVGPTS on the way down. Fools Play was the Meter format, which always works out really well. It was a pretty small audience, but they were all regulars so they all had a hoot. We did a Spid & Snoob, a Virtueco, and a Cinema all in one night! Yikes!

I picked up a Jumbo Jack wit' cheese on the way home. It left a strange aftertaste in my mouth. When I got off the freeway I noticed that there was a message on my cell phone from Geoff, saying that people were gathering at Christine's and I was welcome to come. I figured I'd check in with Carrie's cell phone to see if Carrie was there or not first. So I called home but there was no answer. When I pull into the driveway the Ford is gone. So I go inside and call Carrie's cell phone only to have it ring on the couch. I check the house phone and find a message, but it's just from Christine inviting us over to her place. So I figure that Carrie must have gone over there and call Christine.

"She's not here," Christine said. "She never returned my phone call!"

"Well, she's not here, either," I said. "Her cell phone is here, but she isn't."

So I decided to head on over to Christine's and hang out with (from left to right) Steph, Katie, Geoff, Brandy, Christine, and Dillon. Dylan? I don't konw how to spell his name I just realized. After about a half hour of hijynx I decided to call home and Carrie answered it.

"Oh, there you are!" I said.

She was listening to the message I'd left on her cell phone while she was talking to me on the home phone, so it was like split-screen simultaneous Chris action! She had been over at Mary's and had forgotten her cell phone. I had figured as much, but I didn't want to cold-call Carrie's friends after 11:00 at night and be like, "Is my fiancee there? Nnnnneeeerrrdddd!" Anyway, I gave everyone at Christine's a hug goodbye and headed on home to my lady.

A bunch of nuts and raisins!

Yesterday (Friday) I made oatmeal for the first time. Well, okay, I've made instant oatmeal, but this is the first time I've ever put on a pot of water to boil and put oats in it, and then seasoned it with butter and maple syrup and a dash of milk. It was for Carrie, though, not me; I can't have any dairy for breakfast on account of one of the pills I take has to be taken with food but not within an hour of any dairy products. I made three eggs over-easy for mine own self's breakfast.

I had an horrible morning on account of job opportunity crap that I don't want to go into right now. Things started improving in the afternoon, though. I ate my leftover sammitch from The Rosewood and watched the rest of Intastella 5555. I got a lot of BF work done, which means a lot of moneys. I wrote a new Article. I finally got to make my tuna salad for dinner, except I forgot to add cheese to it, which is okay; it still tasted good.

Carrie had a class in the evening, and I did more BF work and some ANGRY BEEF work (it looks like next week I'll have a Sighting up every day!) and then put on The Rundown and settled in. Man, that's a really good movie. It's just a whole lot of fun all the way through. I likes it.

Carrie called and said she was on her way home, so I made her some ravioli with a butter-garlic sauce and grated sharp cheddar cheese. None for me, though, because I have to take another one of them non-dairy pills before bedtime. I ate a bunch of nuts and raisins instead.

Carrie called me into the bedroom to watch something I've always wanted to see: The episode of Kim Possible where they explain Shego's origins. Seems she was a part of a superhero team, the "Go Team," and that they were all a family who was hit by a comet and got different powers. Shego's power is destruction or something like that (I missed that part).

Some such stuff at which to look.

Hey, I've done a couple of new things that you should check out. One, I've written a new Article. Oh by gob, two in one month? Yeah! All right! Awesome! If you're even thinking about considering having a garage sale this summer, you should definitely read it:

PROPER GARAGE SALE ETIQUETTE

I've also completely revamped the ANGRY BEEF Store. You should definitely go check it out. It's actually easy to find that for which you are looking.

I should order the tuna salad sandwich

Yesterday (Thursday) I totally re-did the ANGRY BEEF Store. You should totally go check it out. It's awesome now. I also entered another Fark Photoshop contest. The ad I placed over at Wil Wheaton dot Net turned out to be a bust, though; not worth it considering how few hits it generated.

Anyway, Carrie wasn't feeling all too terribly well, so I spent most of the day taking care of her (including going to Jack in the Box and buying her a milkshake—tasty!). In the early afternoon I took her to the BF so she could set up for her class and so that I could bring back all them books I scanned.

She went and taught said class in the evening, and Brandy came over to use my 'puter to look up stuff about The Big Green Machine from Euguene (as opposed to The Orange & Black from Down the Track). I was just about to make myself some tuna salad when she showed up, but she hadn't eaten yet and wanted to go out, so we went to The Roseweood Cafe. When we got there it was packed—we had to sit at the bar and wait for a table. On a Thursday! Barry was just as confused. He was all, "Where did all these people come from?" It was rather nifty to see how well he's doing. I joked that I should order the tuna salad sandwich there since I was going to make it at home anyway.

Carrie got to leave the BF immediately after her class, so she was home by like 9:30 instead of 10:30 or 11:00 as is usual. I made her some chili and then that was basically all she wrote. The rest of me.

Not just any eggs.

Yesterday (Wednesday) I started out by making eggs for me & Carrie. But not just any eggs. Scrambled eggs. Okay, maybe that's nothing special after all.

It was Carrie's only real day off, so I kinda decided to take the day off as well. We played Mario Kart in the morning (I whooped her ass real good). At some point we went to Panamonica's, where I hadn't been for a long time. My god, the space is spectacular. And it's just right down 12th from our house. Carrie wanted to see what Krissy's display box thing looked like, but Krissy didn't have it ready yet. And then we went to the bank, and when we came home she made roast beef and sharp cheddar melts for lunch. Later on in the afternoon we picked up Mary and went and saw Mean Girls at the Galaxy 6 Tacoma theater.

Mean Girls is a REALLY good movie. Carrie called it "The Best Movie Ever," but she said that about Bring it On and 10 Things I Hate About You when she saw them. But Mean Girls is REALLY good. After the film we all went to Cost Plus World Market and Carrie bought some cute things on which to display her jewelry in that display box thing at Panamonica's. I bought a couple of shotglasses to practice engraving upon them. Then we dropped Mary off and came home and made ravioli.

I was feeling a little down in the evening for some reason I coudln't figure out. I eventually dug up a brain box and rooted through it for the problem, which turned out to be kinda silly, but still bothered me nonetheless. I think I'm dealing with it effectively now. If this last paragraph doesn't make much sense to you, that's okay.

Carrie went back to Mary's in the evening and Neighbor Gary came over here and hung out with me. We mostly looked people up on IMDB and watched some Transformers. Gary showed me the Anti-Bush video game by the same folks who made that Emo video game.

Carrie's tooth (or perhaps teeth) were really bothering her at night. We'll have to see what we can do about that I suppose.

"Hey, that's not The Transformers"

Yesterday (Tuesday) I got up a little later than usual. See, Carrie & I have found that it's harder to get up when there's someone else in the bed with you. Anyhoo, I made some sausage and egg and a waffle for Carrie when she finally woke up around 10:30. I went to the BF and picked up a whole bunch of books to scan for the website and had a little chat with Missa about plans. When I got home Carrie was back asleep. I got to work on the scanning.

Mary was coming back from B-ham with some goods for her apartment, but she was delayed and so didn't end up getting down until around 5:00. Before that, Carrie went to the store to setup for her class in the evening. When Mary finally got down to T-town Carrie went over and helped her unload stuff from her car, then went and taught class.

I worked on getting my resume up to snuff for an exciting job lead. Geoff came by with a trial copy of FrontPage and we unfortunately had to install it on my 'puter here. But we were able to upload that guy's website that Geoff's been making. After Geoff left I worked more on my novel until Carrie came home. Then I made my waffle-based PB&J sammitch again while Carrie ate a leftover piece of pizza from dinner and made nachos. Still being hungry, I then devoured a whole bunch of cookies. When we went to bed Carrie wasn't really sleepy (surprise, considering she slept until like 2:30 in the afternoon), so she went to the living room to work on jewelry. I popped in Disc 2 of The Transformers - First Season Collector's Edition and watched the infamous "I will shield you" and "We shall remember you, Skyfire" moments before drifting off to sleep. When Carrie finally came back to bed she turned off the DVD and put on some TV, and my only response was, "Hey, that's not The Transformers."

Hooray !

Yesterday (Monday) I got up as usual. I finally made the breakfast I always wanted to make: a peanut butter and jelly sandwich except with waffles instead of bread. Num-nummos! Carrie needed me to go to the bank first thing in the morning, so I ran to Fred Meyer's at 9:00 and popped a couple hundred dollars in her account.

When I got home I worked on BF stuff straight until noon, then I got so freakin' sleepy you would not believe it, so I napped until around 2:15 or so.

When I woke up there was a package from Amazon. It was what I had spent some of my birthday money on! Hooray! In the package was:

So I put on Intastella 5555 and started to clean the house for Carrie's return. Dishes, laundry, vaccuuming, putting stuff away, putting boxes in the bedroom in the garage. All that kind of thing. I made myself a couple of hamburgers for dinner and put on some Transformers. Man-o-man it's a crazy thing to watch that show again with adult eyes and see just how much we filled in when we were kids.

Anyway, I cleaned some more and then Viki called and asked if I could pick the girls up from her house after she got them from the airport. I said sure. She said just to show up at 8:00 and then changed her mind and said, "No, why don't I just call you when we leave the airport?"

"Sure," I said, "that sounds good."

Well, she completely forgot to call me when she left the airport, and so I got a call on my cell phone from Carrie of the "Where are you?" variety. I told her that Viki said she was going to call when they left the airport, and Carrie repeated that to Viki, and I heard Viki in the background saying, "Oh, that's right, I did say that." Very funny.

Anyway, I drove up there and picked up Carrie & Brandy, and dropped Brandy off at her apartment before coming home with Carrie. Hooray!

Work in the backyard

Yesterday (Sunday) I woke up around 8:00 and wrote for this blog and worked on ANGRY BEEF some more. My dad came by again around 10:30 and we went to work in the backyard. It was super sunny; I might have even gotten a little bit of color. Well, okay, probably not. For lunch we ordered a pizza from Papa John's and it came with a free DVD. I am now the incredibly proud owner of Weekend at Bernie's on DVD. So proud.

We left the backdoor open and Fantastico would keep on venturing out to explore, and then running back inside whenever either one of us made a big motion or walked towards her. At one point I couldn't find her, but I thought I faintly heard her meowing. After searching the house I discovered that she had somehow gotten under the porch and was cowering in a corner. Eventually she came out on her own and went in the house. I closed the backdoor after that. Dad stayed and we worked on the backyard until almost 3:00.

I had to go to Bartell's and buy more pills (sexpensive pills, dammit). Carrie called and we actually got to talk for a while instead of her being so tired that she was practically asleep already. I have to go to the bank and put money in her account this morning first thing—remind me, okay?

I grabbed the two leftover slices of pizza and ate them in the car on the way to Fools Play practice. It actually was a really, really good practice. We worked on The Solvers. We trained Taisha in some suspension stuff. We completely re-thought the dumb "Love/Hate" technique and made it so that the illogical reactions aren't to the characters, they're to character traits. It made the scene absolutely fascinating. Still not ready for stage, but almost. Mike brought in a couple more really cool song formats.

I came home and worked even more on ANGRY BEEF. I have all the sightings ready to go for this week already; I just have to write the text blurbs for them. I also prepped my Weekly Update for the BF. Eventually I made chicken noodle soup, took my expensive pills, and went to bed on the couch whilst watching Adult Swim. I was having a good time watching Sealab 2021 and the reinstated Brak Show, but then Baby Blues came on. What the f**k is that show doing on Adult Swim? I suxors! So I put on Disk 2 of the Samurai Jack - Season 1 and fell asleep probably around 2:00 a.m.

Everybody's going to the garden

Yesterday (Saturday) I got up around 7:00 again ('cause that's when my cell phone alarm is set to go off) and made more turkey bacon and three fried eggs for breakfast. Then I sat down at the computer here. I've been fiddling with a lot of stuff on my websites, both here and at www.ANGRYBEEF.com—I created another ANGRY BEEF Sighting, and I have one ready to go for tomorrow as well, so I've done one a day since Thursday. That's pretty kickass.

Anyhoo, my dad came over around 10:30 and we went out in the backyard and gardened. He broke down the upside-down dead Christmas tree that was out there, and I used a neat-o tool to de-weed a bunch of the lawn and the planting beds.

We went to The Rosewood for lunch again. My dad couldn't stop raving about their sammitches. We got there just a couple minutes before it opened and waited in the car. This time I had the tuna melt; my dad had the focaccia club. We talked about sports and politics. It was pretty fun.

We got home and gardened some more. He used some grass clippers to take out a ton of stuff in the planting areas. I continued to de-weed. Then we trimmed back the trees so that you can actually walk under them without getting twigs in your eyes.

After he left around 1:00 I drove up to West Seattle to the PCC Natural Market there and bought five They Might Be Giants tickets for thier August 11th show at The Woodland Park Zoo. In researching how to buy said tickets, I discovered that somehow Woodland Park got the domain name www.zoo.org. Wow! That's a pretty good domain name for a zoo! Anyway, the trip was without incident, except that I really had to pee by the time I got home.

One of the meds I'm taking makes it so that I'm constantly thirsty and also have to pee a lot. No, I'm not diabetic. It's just a little annoying. I swear I'm drinking like a gallon a day. And also my poo is turning green. I think I'll call the doctor tomorrow and ask about all that.

I got home, peed, and dinked around on the 'puter. I got ready for Fools Play and left like 15 minutes late on account of there just always seemed to be one more thing I needed to do before I could leave. Just one more. One more. And again, one more. I heated up some Hot Pockets and ate them on the way down while listening to NMVGPTS. The show was okay; Ed kept on messing up in very small ways, which seems to be happening a bit lately. Oh, well, I'm sure I do it, too.

I gave Geoff the Prologue and Chapter One of my novel for him to read, and he let me borrow Victor Wooten's CD A Show of Hands. It's his solo CD; just him and his bass. It's pretty spectacular at times, and always very pretty.

You know, I never used to listen to a lot of music. It was just something I never really did. I don't like the radio. But ever since I quit transcribing to concentrate on my health and CGH Design, I've been able to listen to music while I'm working at home here (before now I had those damned headphones in my ears all the time). And I've been doing so more and more. It's to the point now that I'm actually having trouble deciding what should be my Album of the Month next month. Who'd of thunk?

When I got home after Fools Play I ate a leftover pork chop and setteld down at the 'puter again. I got Creative Commons licenses for both ANGRY BEEF and thisischris.com.

Creative Commons License

It makes things a lot simpler, legally speaking. I ate the rest of the bacon and took my pills (although I'd forgotten to take them with my Hot Pockets—let's hope I don't die) and went to bed on the couch finally around 12:30, but Big O was on the TV (the first episode), so I had some trouble falling asleep. And then Cowboy Beebop came on and I had to watch that as well. Fantastico slept under the blanket with me, but I tossed and turned too much for her taste so she eventually left. And I eventually slept.

Oh, yeah! I finally added Real Life to my links page. It's a place I like to go to 'cause it takes like three seconds to read the comic. I just for some reason never had it as a link here at thisischris.com; only at www.ANGRYBEEF.com

The zone takes care of its own

Yesterday (Friday) I got up around 7:00 and it seems like I did a lot of web work, but right now I'm having trouble remembering what, other than today's ANGRY BEEF Sighting, which I like a lot. I cooked up some turkey bacon for breakfast and had a couple of waffles to go with it. Nummy!

Anyway, Geoff came over around 10:00 and brought over that Busdriver CD, Temporary Forever. We hung out for about an hour or so, and then we tried to upload the website that he's designing, but we just can't log into the FTP server, and the guy isn't terribly helpful. Ah, well. I had Geoff listen to some MC Hawking and gave him a copy of NMVGPTS's This Will All End Badly. Good times.

I did a ton of BF work in the afternoon, including finishing up the Quality Pewter Spacers page (except for the pics, which I don't have yet). I sent out the invoice for that CD UI thing I did for Diamond. $350 bucks, should come sometime next month. That's nice. That coupled with all the BF work I'm doing this month should make June almost profitable. Crazy. I might actaully be able to start making a living doing this stuff.

Around 5:00 I stopped by the BF for just a minute to steal some Japanese books so that I could scan some interior pages so people could see what they actually look like. I wrote a nifty little javascript image swap function. Anyway, after the BF I swung by Target and bought light bulbs and underwear. Sexciting!

I did some more work, made breaded pork chops for dinner and watched the episode of Teen Titans where Robin has to take the villain's daughter to her junior prom. Then I did even more BF work (scanning them pages), finished up the ANGRY BEEF Sighting, and then put on some NMVGPTS and settled down to do some serious writing.

That's right. I wrote an entire chapter in my book—only six pages, but that ain't shabby. Yee-haw! And it ain't half bad! I was in da zone, baby! It felt great. I'm going to keep myself motivated by printing out whatever I've written during the week and giving it to Geoff to read. I printed it out and took a pen and did some corrections, then finally took my pants off and curled up on the couch with Fantastico around 12:30 a.m.

Some music notes

Hey, I forgot to mention this stuff earlier. What Mathias got me for my birthday was a CD of Professor Stephen Hawking's rap songs. Holy crap that shiznit is fizzunny! The lyrics are very clever, although I'm not a big fan of DJ Doomsday, who backs up the Hawkman. He's a little too early 90s for me, which makes sense because that's how long MC Hawking has been writing hardcore gangsta rap. You should totally go to www.mchawking.com and check the whole concept out.

The NMVGPTS full-length CD This Will All End Badly is quite excellent. It's really good to listen to whilst I'm programming, because it's all spacey and you lose your sense of time, and it really flies by. Plus I absolutely love the full-length version of City Fight Song.

Geoff came by today and gave me a Busdriver CD, Temporary Forever. It's f**king incredible. The DJ on it is absolutely amazing. I'm not sure, but I believe it to be Radioinactive. I'm curious to listen to Busdriver's other albums (except Memoirs of the Elephant Man—I already have that one).

Plus I can't get enough of Cibo Matto's fantastic English-language CD Viva! La Woman. You might remember the song "Sugar Water" from the "sexy dance" segment of the first episode of the second season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the episode entitled "When She Was Bad").

This Will All End Badly

Yesterday (Thursday) I woke up on the couch at 7:00 and quickly ate a hot pocket and then went to the Dr. Fogel's. The phone had actually rung a little bit earlier, but I only vaguely remember not getting up to answer it. Anyway, I'm doing a little better, and Dr. Fogel was cautiously optimistic. My bloodwork came back fine, so we're going to up the Azathioprine. That's a mouthful! Anyway, no bad news, which is good news to me.

I did a ton of BF work in the morning. It felt really good, like I was in Da Zone. The phone message was from Foreign Source saying that the order I had placed for Carrie was out-of-stock and would have to be back-ordered. Oh, well. I called up Pemco and got renter's insurance. Guess how much it cost. One dollar a month for $60,000 of coverage. Jeee-zus!

I did more BF work in the afternoon, and then I drove over to Mary's and the two of us walked down to The Grand and saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Wow, excellent movie. Four stars. I'm actually going to write a review of it, I promise. Honest this time. Mary's apartment is super cute. She was putting up a big map of northern Africa on her bedroom wall and she showed me where she'd been and whatnot. Pretty cool.

I came home and made noodles & ham for dinner. Gary came by and we ate chocolate ice cream from the carton and watched rasslin' like real mens. He brought the photos from the party and also the full-lenght NMVGPTS album, This Will All End Badly. 50 minutes of spacey instrumental rock. Kickass.

I bought another text ad for ANGRY BEEF over at Wil Wheaton's blog. It's not doing very well at all this time. Don't know why. Oh, well. It's a tax write-off.

I did even more BF work in the evening after rasslin' was over, and put up some of the party pics on this here website. I finally went to bed (couch) around midnight and watched some Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Party pics

Hello! Remember I told you that at the birthday party last week Neighbor Gary took a whole bunches of photos? Well, most all of them didn't turn out for being too blurry. Here are some of what remained. Click on the picture to scroll through them:

The backyard possibilities

Yesterday (Wednesday) I was up at 2:00 in the morning (as I mentioned) to finish up Carrie's Wire Bezels handout. It took so long to print, though, that I wasn't able to print them all out. She'll have to find a copy machine and copy the last page. We picked up Brandy outside her apartment. She only had a tiny little bag, whereas Carrie had a big suitcase and another bag. After dropping them off at Viki's I drove home and stayed up until 7:30-ish working on web stuff (like writing for this website).

I put on some Samurai Jack and fell asleep until my phone alarm woke me at 10:00, just as I had planned. I cleaned up the house some, and at 11:00 there was a knock at my door—my dad.

"I'm ashamed of you," I said as I opened the door. "You're only a half-hour early!"

So I showed him the house and the backyard. He was especially impressed with the backyard, and kept on talking about the possibilities it had. He's gonna come over on Saturday and we're gonna garden. That should be a lots of fun. We went to The Rosewood Cafe for lunch, and he said that he had the best tuna sandwich he'd ever had.

In the afternoon I watched Evil Dead II. Man, it's a really strange movie. In my mind I'd gotten all confused as to what happens in the first Evil Dead movie and the second. I'd be like, "isn't this supposed to happen now?" And then remember, "No, that happens in the other movie." I worked some on BF website stuff, but more importantly (to me) is I actually wrote some in my novel. And even more importantly, I actually liked what I was writing. If I can keep in this swing of things, I may be on to something.

I made hot dogs for dinner and ate them with ketchup & mustard and no buns. Just the dawgs, baby! Mary called and said she was bored and wanted to use my internet, so I said that was fine. She came over and used the internet while I watched the series finale of Angel. It kind of came out of the blue, and was much more open-ended than Buffy's ending. Although it highly implies that everyone dies.

Mary officially got a job at Panamonica's, which kicks so much ass. As soon as she gets her apartment up and running I really want to go over and paint with her or something. I just want to paint. I have this idea for a line of paintings...

Anyway. After Mary left I stayed up for quite a while and reorganized all the digital photos on my computer into some sort of logical order. That took quite a long while. Finally I put on Adult Swim and fell asleep on the couch with my pants off. TMI?

New shoes... ptui !

Yesterday (Tuesday) Carrie had an absolute devil of a time getting out of bed. So much so that I had to actually drive her to work. After work I stopped by Chez Target and spent some of my birthday money. I bought a new black shirt and these really cool flat-panel Hello Kitty speakers for my computer. They're not as high quality sounding as the last speakers I had, but who cares? They're so freakin' cute!

I then stopped by Fred Meyer and bought new shoes! Ptui! Actually they're old shoes; they're retro black Converse high tops. Not the canvas kind.

I was going to shop for some foodstuffs, but I realized that there were several and various coupons at home, so I should do the actual shopping later. After that it was home, where I worked on ANGRY BEEF stuff. Not on new sightings, just on the advertising stuff. Jeez, I don't know why I can't get back into the swing of sightings.

Then the phone started happening. First Melissa called and said Brandy was teaching her first class that evening, and needed some revisions to her handout. So the Brandy called and asked if she could bring it by the house around 1:45? Sure, I says. Then Carrie calls and asks if I can call Rosewood and order some foods, then go pick it up and then pick her up from the store and bring her back home to eat the foods. Sure, I says. Little did I know that Carrie wouldn't be quite ready to go when I showed up at the BF with the food. Many minutes passed by. So I was stuck there while Brandy stopped by the house and called my cell phone to ask, "Where are you?" She had to come to the store to give me the handout there, right as Carrie & I were leaving for home. Oops!

Carrie was completely stressed out due to having to get everything ready for the Bead & Button show. It took her a while to unwind out of it. She worked on my back and watched Guiding Light, both of which helped quite a bit. I did the changes to the handout while she took a little nap. She had to go back to work at 5:00, and asked, "Do you want to come with me?"

"Sure!" I says.

First, though, she called the bank, and we decided that I should take $100 of my birthday money out for her to have at the show. So I drove her to the store, went and got half a tank of gas (sexpensive gas), and went to the ATM at Fred Meyer. 2nd time there in one day, baby! I went back to the store and helped Carrie load trunks into Viki's car.

Then it was home for the evening. Carrie gave me changes to make to the handouts for the classes she's teaching in Milwaukee. We ordered a couple pizzas. At one point we tried to watch The Straight Story, but Carrie was busy beading and I wasn't concentrating very well. Plus Geoff stopped by for a bit. I gave him the prologue to Static. I hope this keeps me motivated to write it. Like a few pages every weekend for him to read. That would kick ass.

Then all of a sudden around 10:00 at night I got the worst headache. It felt like someone was trying to push my eyes out of my head from the inside. I took some Tylenol, and Carrie & I decided to go to bed to get some sleep before we had to wake up... at 2:30 in the morning!

So we woke, and I finished up the handouts while Carrie got ready. Then we went and picked up Brandy at her apartment and drove to Mark & Viki's, arriving around 4:10 in the morning. I won't see Carrie until Monday. That suxors! And now here it is, 5:00 a.m. and I'm at home writing for my website. I think I've decided just to stay up and sleep later in the day when I get sleepy. I'm having lunch with my dad and I think I might call Mary or Taisha (and Gary to see how his neck is doing).

A butt-load of work

Yesterday (Monday) was a butt-load of work for both me and Carrie. Carrie went to the store at 9:00 in the morning and didn't get back until 9:30 at night. That's 12 and 1/2 hours, Kyle. I, meanwhile, did a butt-load of BF website work. Gary didn't come for rasslin' on account of his neck is all swollen up again. I can't really remember much else of what happened. Sorry.

Polishing off the Nob of the Hob

Yesterday (Sunday) Carrie & I once again were able to sleep in without being awoken by an alarm. Instead we were awoken when that guy came and power-washed the back deck. Carrie & I decided we were a little tired of eating leftover party food, and so we went out to Breakfast at The Hob Nob. It seems that we go out together for breakfast more than any other meal.

We called Mary and she met us there seeing as how she lives basically across the street from the restaurant. I had french toast, sausage links, and scrambled eggs, which I absolutely wolfed down. I could have polished off another whole plate of the stuff. That's a good sign for my appetite! It was cool to be able to spontaneously call up Mary and see if she was doing anything or not. I warned her that I might be spontaneously calling her up rather frequently while Carrie is out of town.

We stopped by Bartell's before heading home, and then really just cleaned and lounged all afternoon. And played Mario Kart, which we hadn't done in a long time. I like playing Mario Kart with Carrie. Fools Play practice started at 5:00 p.m. on account of we're now "training" Taisha to get up on stage with us. Practice went really well, and it was a lot of fun. Taisha has a surprisingly good singing voice (better than mine, but that's not saying much at all).

After practice I came home and made Ravioli for me & Carrie as a late dinner (after 9:00 p.m.). Carrie accidentally dropped a piece of ravioli on her plate and there was a ginormous sexplosion of sauce all over her and the couch. We played some more Mario Kart and went to the bed.

I Was Unsupervised !

Yesterday (Saturday) Carrie & I did not get up to an alarm. It was strange and unusual. For breakfast we got a couple spoons and ate some of the cheese that Ed brought to the party. Then we went to Target and bought cute-assed outdoor summer barbeque type stuff. We came home and put on Three Amigos! and snacked on leftover party supplies. This was the first time I'd seen the full version in like years, because whenever they play it on the TV they always cut out the singing bush and invisible swordsman parts and edit the hell out of the rest of it. We fell asleep during the movie (actually I think I stayed awake for most of it but fell asleep afterwards).

Fools Play was one of my favorite formats: Workin' it In. I like it 'cause I came up with it. In teh final Workin' it In scene I played a brit who won the lottery and secretly bought his neighbors' home so he could demolish it and build a "sexpartment." He suffered from fainting spells because of "brain problems." His neighbors, however, accidentally became world-famous air musicians and ended up living in the sexpartment with him. Also, Han Solo was gay and Chewbacca was a horrible monster that they all had to defeat. How typical.

I "fainted" a lot during that scene, and the second-to-last time I fainted I accidentally hit my head. It kinda hurt.

Oh, and here as promised are some pics from my colonoscopy. I took the route of discretion and made it so that you have to click on the censored pics below to see the real pics. Go ahead, give it a try, and see what my insides look like!

From left to right, they are pictures of my Transverse Colon, Descending Colon, Descending Colon (a little lower), and Sigmoid Colon. See, that wasn't so bad, was it?

Party

Yesterday (Friday) I spent pretty much all day getting the house ready for the par-tay. Carrie worked 9:00 to 5:00, and went to lunch with Devon (who was teaching his class at the BF), so it was pretty much just me all day cleaning and whatnot. Carrie made out a big list of things for me to do and the order in which I was supposed to do them. I snuck a couple extra things in that weren't on the list, like putting up the badmitton stuff.

The party happened in the evening and it was a hoot and a half. A lot of people came, including some whom I hadn't seen in a long time, like Josh Sanders & Amanda, and Nathe and Alicia, who brought thier kids Abby & Eddie. Linnea brought Melina, so we had three really cute kids running around. Neighbor Gary had his camera and snapped probably close to 100 pics. I'll see if I can't get some of the pics from him on Monday and post them. There was badmitton (the two-sticks version) played, except the shuttlecocks kept going over the fence to the neighbor's yard. It was a lot of fun, except I kinda felt obligated to bounce from group to group so that people wouldn't be like, "Geez, I went to Chris's party and didn't even get to see him very much!" The final stragglers (pretty much the Fools Play people) left around 2:00 in the morning. It was a much more low-key party than last time, thank goodness. Only one person got COMPLETELY trashed, and she ended up just sleeping on the couch overnight.

The best line of the night in my opinion was said by Gus, Devon's Brazilian friend. We were both going for the bathroom at the same time, and so I asked him, "Which way do you have to go?"

"Oh, I have to pee," he said.

"Well, then you'd better go first," I said.

So he went in and a minute later I heard the toilet flush and the sink run for a bit, then he came out and said with a big smile, "Okay, I peed. And I farted... just once!"

I got several presents from people. Christine was awesome and got both Geoff and me the Spider Man 2 Triple Action Web Blaster. This way we could load it up with missiles and shoot at each other and other party guests. It was hard to play two-sticks with the thing strapped to my arm, though, and at one point Mary shot me in the crotch with it (didn't hurt). I got many DVDs as well, including Ghostbusters, Office Space, Three Amigos!, Evil Dead II, and Samurai Jack - Season 1. So all in total I got eight DVDs for my birthday. Not a bad haul.

Party Prep

Hello! I just realized that I don't think I've ever posted a pic of our house on this website, so here goes everything... or nothing:

There. Hey, in case you're coming to the party tonight and have never been here before, that's the house what you're gonna look for.

Anyway, the colonoscopy went well. Doc said it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. I'm too busy getting ready for the party to go into detail now, but I will soon. I'll also post pictures of my insides. You think I'm kidding?

Clear liquid

Yesterday (Wednesday) at noon I started my clear liquid diet. I went to Bartell's to get supplies (i.e., a gallon of saltwater) and then Fred Meyer's. I found some Converse shoes there that I liked, but they didn't have them in my size (which I'm not exactly sure of anyway). I finished watching Dawn of the Dead and played some more Everything or Nothing.

Carrie & I went to that Trader Joe's place after she got off work to stock up on party supplies, then hit the liquor store to stock up on party supplies. I kept on having to fight my instinct to just pop some food in my mouth—no! Only clear liquids allowed, baby! On the way home Carrie stopped by Burger King and my mom called me with the news about Baby.

Mary came by in the evening whilst cleaning was happening. I hung some lanterns in the bay window and did some BF work.

Now I'm drinking a gallon of saltwater. Wish me luck with my colonoscopy today!

Baby mine ~ 19?? - 2004

It comes my sad duty now to eulogize a longtime friend of mine.

Of all the many cats with whom I lived (eight or so over the years), Baby was the easiest to come by. One day Susan was in the backyard at the old house, and this big, long-haired black cat walked up, rolled on his back, and meowed as if to say, "Pet me now!" Actually Baby didn't really meow. He kind of blerted. It was extraordinarily high-pitched. It sounded like mi-GAK!

There was one winter break when I was in college where I would stay up until 5:30 every morning just so I could watch The Transformers on the Sci-Fi Channel. Actually there were a whole series of shows, including Bionic Six and Captain Scarlet. Since everybody else in the house would have gone to bed many hours earlier, it was Baby who would stay up and blert at me and keep me company while I made monterey jack quesadillas (dipped in barbeque sauce) and drew posters for Education Station.

When I moved back home from college and spent a year or so sleeping sleeping on the couch in the living room, it was Baby who would undoubtably crawl up and join me at some point during the night. I remember waking up in the mornings, lying on my left side with Baby curled up against my chest, and my right arm draped lazily over him.

In recent months Baby had been suffering from heart disease, which is tough for anybody to beat, let alone a cat. When I last saw him on Sunday he was on medicine that caused him to retain water, so he looked like a black beach ball with arms, legs, and a head. But he crawled on my lap and purred when I scratched his chin. Didn't blert so much, but seemed happy and active.

This is the only photo I could find of him. Susan probably won't be happy about it being included on account of she's in it and all:

So long, Baby. You were one cat whose name truly fit. You may not have been the prettiest kitty, but you were always cute as a baby.

Productivity report

Geez, it seems like I did a ton of stuff yesterday (Tuesday). First of all, I played a whole bunch of Everything or Nothing. Then I went and got my license renewed (five days late). I was going to go to the same DMV that I went to last time, but I went online and discovered another one in University Place. Hmm, I thought to myself. I could drive many miles into South Tacoma and hang out in the DMV will all the crackheads, or I could go to University Place, where the population is much more pleasant. So off to University Place.

The guy behind the counter swore he recognized me, and asked me where I worked. I told him I'd been working at home for the past few years and he said, "No, I don't recognize you from there."

"I should hope not," I replied.

After getting a photo taken that makes me look like I'm rather annoyed, I swung back into T-town to drop School of Rock off at the video store. Then I swung by Jiffy Lube to have the oil in the Toyota changed (only 2,000 miles late). It was the easiest time I'd ever had having my oil changed. They didn't need to do anything else, and it only cost the $35 that it's supposed to.

Carrie had a split shift so I hung out with her in the afternoon. We went to the Tacoma Mall to look for shoes for me and her, and whatever else we could find. I didn't end up finding shoes. I did have to quickly find a bathroom at one point. Carrie found a really cute skirt (black with a pink bow) and a pair of shoes at Mervyn's, the first place we looked. I got really winded and sweaty just walking around the mall... I'm so out of shape. We stopped by Pier One on the way home to look for cute house stuff, but the only thing we really liked was not the right color and the peeps who worked there couldn't figure out if it was a new item or the last of its kind. Ah, well.

In the evening I put some pictures up on the wall, then broke out Dawn of the Dead and watched it in the bedroom while I put up the final two wall lights in there.

Carrie thought she was gonna get out of class and get home early, but instead she had to basically close. There was a chance she would have to go hang out with Missa on account of Missa quit the ballet and that didn't go very well. But Viki went to Missa instead, so Carrie swung by Taco Bell and came home around 11:00 at night. Late night. I wasn't quite done with Dawn of the Dead yet (they'd just blocked off the entrances with trucks), but Carrie wasn't in the mood for extremely graphic violence. Instead we put on Kim Possible and went to bed and ate Taco Bell. And then cake and Cool Whip.

A shout-out

I'd like to give a shout-out to something that has helped me immensely during my prolonged fight with my belly. Jamdat's Bejeweled on my cell phone. Many is the time that I have sat on the toilet while Bejeweled has helped distract me from what's going on. Many thanks, Jamdat. Many thanks.

Round 'em up, cowboy

Not exactly regularly. On Saturday Carrie had the Ever After show. Her folks and I all met her there around 12:30, and we were going to go to The Clocktower for lunch (her folks were taking me to lunch for my birthday), but it doesn't open until like 4:00 on Saturdays for some dumbass reason. Instead we walked downtown to this awesome little place called Vin Grotto. It's like a three-part place. When you walk in it's an art gallery. If you walk further it's a tiny little cafe with like three tables and a bar and some huge couches and more art on the walls. And good food. If you keep going, it's a custom framing place. Crazysexycool. The artist in the front gallery was really cool. He had this one painting of a robot that I loved, but it was like $350. Carrie's folks gave me a really cool present, though: A badmitton set. Hoo-ray! Now I can set it up in the backyard. I hope the weather is nice for the party. 'Cause then we'll be hitting the shuttlecocks over the fence like car-razy!

We walked back up to Ever After, then I drove home. I was going to get work done on cleaning and my mom's Mother's Day present, but I'm so outta shape from being sick that just walking a few blocks in downtown Tacoma completely drained me. I sat down on the couch to catch my breath around 2:00 and when I woke up (I hadn't even realized I had fallen asleep) it was 5:30. I was a little late for Fools Play, which was Fools Play: A Life. One of my favorite formats, I don't think it was done quite as well as it was last time, but it was still pretty cool and a lot of fun. Taisha came in a prom dress for some reason.

Sunday was Mother's Day. Carrie & I went to Cost Plus to do some party shopping. We hadn't been there in a while. We got some Hello Kitty Dream Cakes. Then we went over to my folks' house so that they could all give me my birthday presents. Here's what I got: Dawn of the Dead DVD; Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah - Giant Monsters All-Out Attack DVD; Cibo Matto's Viva! La Woman CD; The Powerpuff Girls' Heroes and Villains CD; a cool Logitech cordless optical mouse (21st century here I come); 007: Everything or Nothing for GameCube. Plus my mom and grandma each gave me a little something extra ($$).

Carrie went over to her folks' house, and then my fambly went to a late lunch/early dinner at The Village Inn. Half of us had lunch and the other half had breakfast foods. I had a fried chicken sammitch with bacon and ranch dressing. Afterwards we went back and hung out at my folks' place for a while, had cake and ice cream (lemon cake w/chocolate icing; cookie dough ice cream), and a generally good time. Carrie came and picked me up around 7:00-ish.

She did not have quite as good a time at her folks' house. In fact she had a pretty stressful weekend all around. So on Monday night I went over to Neighbor Gary's place to watch rasslin' so as she could have the house to herself and kind of detox and relax. Gary showed me all the photos he's taken with his digital camera. He's a really good photographer. He should print some of them out and frame them and then put 'em up in one of the many galleries around T-town.

What's new, Pussycat?

Hello, sorry about not updating more but, you know, I'm sick.

Last weekend Carrie's mom and my mom met for the first time while we met with a potential wedding florist (who we really like and will probably go with). Carrie's mom was very well behaved and it was nice.

Sunday we had the entire BF over for Viki's birthday.

Wednesday was Trevor's birthday. We got him Flood on account of he expressed interest in TMBG and all Viki listens to are crap boy-band like stuff. So we thought some exposure to good music might be good.

On Wednesday I met with Missa at the BF and loaded up with a ton of books that I scanned and typed out the descriptions on the backs of 'em. These are going to all go up on the website. I'm going to have a ton of work for the BF this month, which is very good.

Thursday was my 27th birthday. I celebrated by going to the doctor and having blood drawn and all that fun stuff. I had lunch with my mom and spent the afternoon of the day with Geoff, and we watched School of Rock (which neither of us had seen). I expected it to be funny, but I didn't expect it to be such a good movie. Carrie had to work late on account of the India Trunk Show at the BF, but she got off early (before 11:00 p.m.), which was a nice birthday surprise for me.

On Friday night (yesterday) Neighbor Gary came over. He had a nasty neck infection all week. We were invited to go see Van Hellsing with a whole bunch of peeps, but neither one of us were feeling up to it (and neither one of us really wanted to see the flick anyway) so we stayed in, ordered a pizza, watched the Michael Tanner tribute DVD and then Black Mask starring Jet Li. Carrie & I stayed up until after 2:00 a.m. because today (Saturday) Carrie has a jewelry show at Ever After.

And I've written my annual article, My Three-Year DVD Anniversary Quiz.

I go in next week for a colonoscopy. Funtimes, let me tell you. I'll see if I can't get around to updating this thing more regularly.
