Yesterday (Tuesday) I once again got up much too late. This time, however, I didn't even have enough time to choose one activity before I had to leave; I just had to brush my teeth and go.

Work was kinda creepy. Usually the third floor (where we work) is full of dozens of people. Yesterday it was practically deserted. It seemed like the builders were practically the only ones there.

I managed to get home from work before Carrie had to leave for class. She wasn't feeling very well on account o' not having gotten more than three hours of sleep the previous night. She was also feeling just generally down-in-the-dumps. So after I dropped her off at the BF (and stopped by Bartell's to pick up some ferrous sulfate to stop me being anemic), I went to Fred Meyer's and bought her a copy of Uptown Girls starring Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning.

After I came home I updated this here blog, then installed Word on the little laptop I got from Mary. You know, that thing doesn't come with a disk drive, so I'm not exactly sure how I'm gonna get files off of it. Hmm...

Anyway, I had to restart the computer when installing (which took freakin' FOREVAH), so I lost Carrie's long-running solitaire game in which she had racked up around $1,100 in winnings.

Carrie got home and was delighted to find the movie on the bed. I made her two types of eggs (one with cheese and one with ketchup), she had some chocolate cake that was leftover from Panamonica's when she and Nicole went there last night (Krissy's birthday cake), and some nachos, and we watched Uptown Girls. I fell asleep first; I'm not sure exactly how much sleep Carrie got.

Sometimes it's poo!

Yesterday (Monday) I got up late again. I had to make a tough decision. Should I shower, shave, or make a real breakfast? I hadn't showered the day before. Shower won by a landslide. I grabbed some cheese for breakfast in the car and had a nice, wooly face.

Work.

After dropping Mike off at home I headed to T-town. I remembered that Carrie & Nicole were going to go to the Supermall (and get to that half that Carrie didn't get to last time), but I didn't know if they needed the 'Yota I was driving. So I called and asked and, no, Nicole was driving. Carrie said they were going to go to the bank, to Panamonica's, and then to the Supermall, and that I was to take the Ford to go to Gary's for rasslin' so she could use the 'Yota to get groceries during that time.

When Brandy called wondering what we should do for dinner I suggested Panamonica's. I went straight there from the freeway and had a Mike's Hard Lime and gave Krissy a birthday kiss on the cheek (she's an old lady of 22 years old now). Brandy showed up but wasn't in the mood for a sammitch (and plus she had a headache), but couldn't get much else on account of the freezer at Panamonica's was broke! They lost all their chicken and pizza. Oops! I had a sammitch and she had chips & salsa (and some tea).

We waited around for a long time for Carrie & Nicole to show up but they never did. So Brandy & I bought a pint of Ben & Jerry's (the kind with cookie dough and brownie bits in it—I forget what it's called) and went down to the waterfront and ate the whole thing. It was very nice and relaxing.

I switched cars as Carrie requested and went over to Gary's for rasslin'. It was a very good episode, featuring Chris Benoit defeating HHH in a 60-minute IronMan match (with help from Eugene).

When I got home there was still no sign of Carrie, so I called her to see where she was. She was at Safeway. "Did you go to Panamonica's?" she asked. It seems she and Nicole forgot to go there until after they were already at the Supermall. So they stopped there on the way back instead of beforehand, which is why Brandy & I missed them.

She came home a while later with a car full of groceries. It's kinda crazy; we haven't had a clean enough kitchen for food in about two weeks. But she actually made me my lunch for today! Hoo-ray! And cute!

Carrie had a real hard time sleeping. I did not have nearly so hard a time. Apparently at one point when I was asleep and she was awake, I started giggling. She nudged me awake and asked, "What are you laughing about?"

I giggled and answered, "Sometimes it's poo."

I have no recollection of this event. But I don't doubt it in the least.

Yesterday (Sunday) Carrie & I slept in a bit. By "a bit" I mean until 12:30 in the afternoon.

After cleaning and dinking around some on this here internet thingy, the two of us walked down to Starbucks. She got a mocha frappy thing and I got a double-chocolate smoothie type thing. We enjoyed them in the air-conditioned place.

Around 5:30 we headed down to EthnicFest in Wright's Park for din-dins.

Mary went to Napoleon Dynamite with us.

Why can't I remember more of this day?  That's what I get for not blogging immediately.  Don't worry, I'll ask Carrie and then adjust this entry accordingly.  I swear more happened.

What all the fuss is about

Yesterday (Saturday) Carrie had a wedding to go to. She went back to the Supermall to get those shoes she didn't have time to get on Friday, then went to the wedding.

I, in the meantime, took the day off. Seriously. I did some dishes, straightened up the living room a little bit, and watched some TV—a couple episodes of Big O, plus a couple episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion, just to see what all the fuss is about (I still don't see what makes it any better than any other show in the same genre, but I've only seen the first two episodes now).

That was truly about it for the day. Carrie came home and then I took the 'Yota down to Oly to do Fools Play. Whoops! Due to the fact that it was still in the 90s by 8:00 at night, understandably nobody wanted to go out and do anything, including Fools Play. So there were two people in the audience. We refunded their money and instead of doing a show we had practice and let them watch. Which was good, because we can't have practice today (Sunday) due to lack of people.

After the "show" me, Taisha, and Geoff went to Red Robin, and I footed the bill on account of actually having money plus being a very nice guy. My pleasure.

Much too hot for this lad

Yesterday (Friday) I didn't get up at a reasonable time again.  In fact, I woke up about ten minutes before I was s'posed to leave.  So I didn't really have much in the way of breakfast.  I got to my brother's place basically on time, though, so that was okay.

My first full day in my brand-new cubicle.  It's much nicer than the old one, and I lo-o-ove the window.  Anyway, I was so sleepy all day that I kept on having waking dreams and nodding off.  Not such a good thing do to when the Director of Production sits behind you.  Oh, well.  Michael let us off a half hour early because it was such a "nice" day.   Nice my ass!  It was in the 90s, which is much too hot for this lad.

Oh!  My birthday presents for Miko (finally) arrived.  I got him a couple E-Ticket magazines; one on Space Mountain and one on Adventureland.  Hope he likes them, ass!

I had to call Carrie on the freeway to Tacoma so she could talk to me to keep me from falling asleep.  When I finally did get home I did sleep for quite a while.  Carrie & Mary went to the Supermall and totally lost track of time until the store they were in announced it was closing.  We thought we all might go see a movie, but by that time it was much too late.

Carrie brought home a hoagie and some brie and grapes for a (very) late dinner.  It was so frikkin' hot that it was too hard to sleep.  Eventually around 3:00 Carrie made a determined effort to do so, and I went out and finally beat Mega Man 8 before coming back to bed and finally sleeping because it was cool enough.

Very tasty but of course sexpensive

Yesterday (Thursday) I didn't carpool up with Mike & Geoff, even thought it was Geoff's last day of carpool due to his fancy-schmancy new jeaorb.  I, instead, had a doctor's appointment.  I had to leave the house at exactly the same time as if I were carpooling, so I had to get up just as early and didn't have the benefit of the special lane during the second leg of the journey.

Anyway, I'm anemic and my bones are deterioriating.  How are you?

When I mentioned to Dr. Fogel that Carrie & I were going to Disneyland for our honeymoon, he said how he'd gone there just recently and had finally "outgrown it."  It felt like the rides just beat him up instead of being fun.

I only got to work like a half hour late, which ain't too shabby.  About halfway through the day I switched cubicles and moved into a brand-new space that has a window view!  I can see the cool Batman-looking hospital up on the hill from my window now.  Heck, I can actually SEE now.  It's not a dark little cave.  I think I likes it.  We'll see.  I ate leftover hoagie for lunch.

Mike & Geoff left before I did on account of not having arrived late like I did.  I worked an extra half-hour to make up for the tardiness.  As I was leaving I got phone calls from three people.  In ALPABETICAL ORDER:
  • Carrie
  • Mike (on Geoff's Phone)
  • Sandy

Sandy wanted to hang out after I got off work.  Mike informed me that Geoff's truck wouldn't start.  Carrie wanted to know if I would be home before she left for class.

Anyway, what ended up happening was that I picked up Mike and the two of us went to Sandy & Mathias's place while Geoff waited around for a tow truck or something.  And, no, I wouldn't be able to get home before Carrie left for class; I was still in Seattle.

Me, Mike, Sandy, & Mathias went to an awesome Japanese restaurant in the International District for dinner.  There was a half-hour wait for seating, so we wandered through this community garden/park thing for a while.  We were eventually seated in our own room, like in an old-timey Japanese restaurant.  I had tuna tartar and some sushi.  Very tasty but of course sexpensive.

We went back to their Japanese-style apartment and watched something called Super Milk Chan.  It wasn't very good, unfortunately.  I'm too tired to get into it right now.

Oh!  S&M have this really cool gun that shoots honest-to-god smoke rings!  It's awesome!  I wants it!

Anyway, I took Mike home a while later and dropped him off before heading home and getting there sometime around 11:00 I think.

We gots us a heatwave a-comin'

Yesterday (Tuesday) I was totally not able to get outta bed at a reasonable time.  Nuh-uh.  Didn't happen.  I didn't even have time to shower or shave or make myself a lunch.  Just jammed something in my mouth and went out the door with Geoff.

I was insanely tired at work.  I kept on having waking dreams and stuff (that I can't remember).  For lunch I walked to Cyclo Pho and got takeout.  Although at first I walked in the other direction because I'd remembered seeing a deli over there when I walked from the train station.  But when I got to the deli the cupboard was bare.  I'm serious; the place had hardly anything in it and there was nobody behind the counter.  I left.

This Pho place, however, is really cool.  You get a big lunch with soup for under $5.00 (well, exactly $5.00 with tip).  The place itself is setup to look like it's an outdoor cafe in some French quarter of Vietnam.  You come in through the west wall, which is all windows and door.  The south wall (to your right) is painted to look like the face of a building with an alley next to it.  The north wall (to your left) is painted like beautiful Vietnamese scenery.  And the east wall (in front of you) is where the counter is, but they've put up a faux grass-hutch roof over it so it looks like you're outside the whole time.  It's great.  The food ain't bad either, just a little oily.

Anyway, I've been copying a ton of CDs onto my computer at work, and then selecting "All Music" and putting that on shuffle.  Yesterday I put on some Buckethead and Cibo Matto

Carrie had already left for her class by the time I got home, so I went out to Panamonica's for din-dins.  I didn't know anybody there that night (except for all the people who work there of course), and I didn't stay very long; just long enough for a Crazy Turkey sammitch and a Mike's Hard Lime.

Then I drove to the drugstore and picked up my $0.70 prescription.  Why can't they ALL be that cheap?  I also bought something for Carrie.

I came home and designed the reply postcard for our wedding invitations.  By making it a postcard we don't have to purchase tiny little envelopes for 'em, thus saving on the cash.  I also played some more Mega Man 8.  I can't get by the first Wily stage.  Can you believe that?  I spent a lot of time, though, going back through old stages and collecting money for upgrades.

Um, what else?  Oh, yeah!  I dug through the disgusting garage and found a window fan and a big tall standup oscillating fan.  I put 'em both in the bedroom to help keep it cool, baby, 'cause we gots us a heatwave a-comin'!  Yee-haw!

I had Carrie go over the postcard design when she got back, then I printed 'em out.  I even printed our address on the backside so that doesn't have to be done by hand.  She cut them all out with a paper cutter.  Then she made nachos while I ate some more of that gigantor brownie thang in bed.

It was actually cool when we went to bed--cool enough that we used the blanket much earlier than normal.  And with the fan noise I was able to fall right asleep.  Aaah, white noise.  My only true friend.  Carrie also got a pretty good night's sleep becasue of that thing I'd bought her at the drugstore.  It was technically mine to use, but it was really more for her.

SnoreStop Extinguisher!

Yes, that's right. Ever since I came down with that really bad cold a while back, I've done something I never used to do.  Snore.  But last night Carrie said I actually didn't snore, so let's hear it for this SnoreStop stuff.  It had better work; it sure as f**k cost enough.

The bedroom floor

Yesterday (Monday) I was actually able to get out of bed at an unreasonably early hour.  I shaved, showered, and was able to leisurely get ready for work.  I was even able to update this here blog in the morning like I always used to!  I did, however, forget to pack meself a lunch (as had Carrie the night before).  So at work I went to that Starbucks eatery and bought two fish tacos.

I called Brandy from work to see how she wanted to get together to look over her handout (the one that I hadn't designed yet, but that I planned to have done by 8:00 that night).  She was having some car problems.  At one point it looked like Geoff & I might stop by her car and see if we could help her out, but her mom came up from Oly instead, so I just came straight home.  She never did get a chance to look over the handout, but that's okay because she said her class was cancelled so there's no real hurry.

Why can't I remember what happened for dinner?  I'm pretty sure we didn't eat in, because you can't really cook in the kitchen right now on account of messy, messy, mess-eee.  Rosewood was on Sunday, not Monday.  Ah!  I do seem to remember going to Taco Bell and buying four cheese quesadillas and four soft taco supremes (and a pintos and cheese), then having a "picnic" on the bedroom floor.  That must have been dinner.

I went to Gary's for Rasslin' while Carrie cut out wedding invites and later went to Panamonica's to hang out with Mary.  I got home before she did, and so to pass the time I played some more Mega Man 8.  I have now beaten all 8 bosses.  All that's left is WILY!

That reminds me.  I should go to Flying Omelette's Kitchen and post about getting that game.  I forget.  Haven't had much time for omelettes or BEEF recently.  That pretty much suxors.  But I did get to spend an entire weekend with Carrie.  That pretty much roxors.  So you balance that all out.

Anyway, Carrie came home with a gigantor brownie thing from Stadium Thriftway.  She called ahead and had me clean two forks for the eating, which we did on the bedroom floor like before with the Mexican food.

I must have been on crack!

Yesterday (Sunday) Carrie & I had some trouble getting up. It was the only day that we technically could sleep in a little, and so we kinda indulged. It was my job to print out the wedding invitations. I must have been on crack, though, because my brain told me that there were four invitations per page instead of the real number, which is two. So I only printed out 30 pages instead of 55. What? Huh? Milk?

We also burned a copy of Dial-a-Song for Mark & Viki's kids. Since we're taking them to a TMBG concert in less than a month we figured it would be a good idea if they knew more songs than just the last five songs on Flood. You know. We then drove out to their house to give it to them. I played a few games of Mario Kart Double Dash with Sophia while Carrie talked with Viki upstairs.

From there we drove to Galaxy Gateway 8 and saw Spider-Man 2. Yee-goddam-haw that's a goot moofie!

Then we stopped at home for a short bit and I started the other 25 pages of invitations a-printing. Instead of going to Fools Play practice I went with Carrie to this big Bead Factory meeting of all the people who worked at The Puget Sound Bead Festival. Since I was one of those people I was supposed to go. I ended up getting a free dinner out of it from The Rosewood (where the meeting took place). It was one of those kinds of deals where you go around the table and everyone says their favorite part of the Bead Festival. I said it was when two old ladies winked at me. That made everyone bust a gut.

I have to tell you, I have really absolutely no problem working with a dozen of the most beautiful women I've ever met.  I'm really fine with that.

Carrie & I came home and wouldn't you know it? I had another agorophobia attack! This was much shorter than the previous one, but, man, come on! Actually they usually come in groups like that. I wouldn't be surprised if I had another one some time this week. Anyway, Carrie went online and reserved our flight for our Honeymoon to... lovely Disneyland!! It was on my mother's card, so I called to make sure the price was okay. Yes. It was.

Carrie & I went to bed a while later, but it was way freakin' hot so it was hard to get to sleep.

Wedding chores, go!

Yesterday (Saturday) was a busy day as far as wedding stuff is concerned.  Carrie & I basically spent the whole day doing stuff for the wedding.  We went to the Tacoma Mall and looked at wedding rings at Nordstrom's.  I didn't like any of them there.  So we went to International Jewelers, where I found a freakin' awesome titanium band that I bought for myself.  Once I get married I'll be able to punch through walls!

Carrie didn't like any of the rings there for herself, so eventually we went back to Nordstrom's where she ordered one out of a catalog that goes really well with mine.  I, in the meantime, kept taking my ring out of the box and putting it on.  I wish I could wear it right now!  It K's some A.

We had lunch at the Red Robin and then went to Warehouse where Carrie spent like $60 on They Might Be Giants albums.  Let's see... we got the Dial-a-Song collection, the maxi-single Indestructible Object, and the new album The Spine

Then we went looking to finalize the tuxes, which we did at The Tux Shop in, of all places, The Tacoma Mall (again).  Carrie was getting mighty sick of having to go to the mall, lemme tell you.  Well, so was I.  But The Tux Shop did a great job and got us exactly what we wanted.  Not too expensively, either.

Two more stops.  We went to Paper Zone to buy all the paper we'll need to make the wedding invitations.  While Carrie paid for that I went across the way to Office Depot to buy printer cartridges so we could actually be able to print the danged things out.

And then finally home.

I listened to The Spine on the car ride down to Fools Play.  My first impression is that it's an okay album.  Nothing much really stuck out, and it all had pretty much the same sound.

Fools Play was a rollicking good show ("Board Game").  The strange thing was that LakeFair was happening at the same time.  So we were worried that nobody would show up to the show, like last weekend when LakeFair was also happening.  So me, Geoff, and Mike walked down to LakeFair and Geoff handed out Fools Play money to people in the crowd while Mike & I backed him up.  Just having the three of us walk around in our uniforms attracted some attention.  I'd say like 90% of the people we talked to seemed genuinely interested.  Hopefully they'll actually show up some week.

Afterwar the show we went to the Robin again, but I didn't order anything on account of just having eaten there for lunch.  I nibbled on Taisha's fries and supped on Sandy's shake.  Not as dirty as it sounds.

On the way home I had an horrendous agorophobia attack!  It was crazy-go-nuts!  I had to slow my driving way down 'cause it was kinda hard to concentrate.  Thankfully I was close to home and so I managed to make it there, and then I kinda hid in the bedroom (it has a ceiling) until the attack went away.  Phobias are stupid.

Mary's family

Yesterday (Friday) I did not take the train or bring anybody flowers.

Brandy had called during the day saying she wanted to stop by and talk to me about something. In fact she called again while Geoff & I were on the freeway to see where we were, and if we could call her when we got closer so she could meet us at the house. Sure thing. So I called when we got closer and there was no answer on either her cell phone or her apartment phone.

So Geoff & I got to the house and waited around for her to call. I played some Mega Man 8 on the Anniversary Collection so that Geoff could see it. Soon Brandy did call and soon came over as well. She wanted me to make some changes to her Art Deco Bracelet class handout and so came over to show me her revisions. While this was happening Geoff went out in the backyard with my beard-and-mustache trimmer and shaved down his head. He came back in covered in tiny pieces of hair—all over his body, his arms, his neck, and his entire face.  Brandy refused to kiss him on account of his lips were all covered in shaving discards.  I, however, had no such compunctions and laid a big smacker right on his lips.  Brandy was unfortunately right; I ended up just getting hair all over my lips.  Not pleasant!

Anyway, the two of them left soon thereafter.  Carrie was covering a Leilani shift, which meant that she had to work from 2:00 to 10:00 or so. That kinda suxored. So she wasn't home when I got home. The place was a mess so I didn't feel like making any food. Instead I went to Panamonica's and had a Crazy Turkey sammitch.

Mary walked in while I was sitting at the bar. It seemed she was meeting her brother and sister-in-law there! They were in fact already there, sitting upstairs. We went up and joined them. They're really cool people. Her brother and I kept geeking out about Transformers and Hello Kitty. He said he was going to Japan and I asked if he was going to stop at the Hello Kitty theme park (he said he doubted it). He does web stuff like me. Mary had a feeling the two of us would get along.

After that pleasant time I drove straight to the store because I hadn't seen Carrie since 7:30 that morning when I'd left for work, and I was going through withdrawl. I couldn't wait any longer. So I hung out with her at the store until after it was techincally closed. Then I came home and did I remember not what.

Around the time that Carrie was supposed to call me to come pick her up from work, she called me to pick her up from work... and drive her to Panamonica's so she and Missa could have a secret meeting with Viki there. Okay. Then around 11:00 she called me to come pick up her and Missa. I drove Missa home, then drove me and Carrie back to the house for the night.

That trip is quite a trip

Yesterday (Thursday) morning I got up at 5:30 (well, I tried to; it was more like 5:40).  Why, you ask?  Because yesterday was the day that I had an adventure.

AN ADVENTURE WITH THE SOUNDER COMMUTER TRAIN!

That's right!  Instead of taking a car up to Seattle, I took the train and got to ride there in the lap of luxury, bypassing all of the traffic along the way.

Truth be told, it was mostly because Geoff was going up separately because he was hanging out with Sandy & Mathias up in seattle after work.

Nathaless, I did take the train.  It was quite an experience.  It actually costs $8 four a round-trip ticket on that thing from Tacoma to Seattle and back.  But I only ever paid $4.

Huh?  You ask?  Bu-bu-but how?  Well, the ticket vending machine (or TVM as I learned they were called) was broken and not accepting credit or debit cards.  I had no cash on me because I did much research online and saw that those machines accepted credit and debit cards.  A nice man with an authoritative manner (and badges on his jacket and a tan police-style hat) told me to tell Mr. Conductor Man about this problem when he went around looking at tickets.  Sounded like a good plan to me.

So I walked all the way to the train and got a seat in about the middle car on the top floor.  I enjoyed the scenery and looking at the different designs of the handfull of stations we stopped at.  And the conductor never showed up to look at my ticket.  So I got to Seattle and walked of the train, scratching my head.  How had I slipped through the cracks like that?  Oh, well.

The train let us all off just northeast of Seahawks Stadium.  I work south of both stadiums.  Seeing as how I never got a ticket for the train and had no cash to buy a bus ticket (nor any knolwedge of bus schedules and the like), I decided to walk.  Heck, it was like 7:45 when I got to Seattle.

I ended up walking the wrong direction around Seahawks Stadium.  The east side.  Don't walk around the east side of that stadium, folks.  You'll be confronted by loading bays and eventually a chain-link gate that I didn't really feel like climbing over (too high) or shimmying under (too much effort).  So I walked back north and then west and went around the west side of the Stadium.  Then it was pretty much a straight shot down to the Cobalt building.  Well, a LONG, straight shot.  Quite a walk!  With the detour it ended up taking me a half hour, but I estimated that durned detour to the eastside burned up a good five to ten minutes.  That's not as bad.  I used to walk that much a couple of times every day back in college.  But, man, I am so out of shape.  Much worse than when I was in college.

I kinda want to take the train again some time and bring my camera with me (I meant to take it yesterday) so I can document the trip for an Article.  That train trip is quite a trip.

I was plenny sleepy during work.  I ate the PB&J sammitch (that Carrie made for lunch) before 10:00 a.m.  But that was okay, because there was free pizza for all the Production Team members, of which it turns out we all are.  So I ate much too much pizza.  That barbeque chicken one was goot, though!  I think I had five slices altogether?

Another fun adventure at work was the fact that a handful of us builders got emails saying they needed to go upstairs and pick up thier paychecks on account of it being payday.  Mike & I did not get that message.  So that was kinda crazy.  I looked at my online statement and saw that they said they'd paid me, but they also said they'd cut me a check for $0.00.  Weird.  Mike sent them an email and they wrote back saying that our money had been directly deposited.  Even though they said that our first paycheck would be a physical paycheck.  Oh, well.  I quickly called the bank and verified that I had money.

That's a strange feeling, having money.  "That would be fun, to ride Ralph."

I got off work an hour early and walked the 20 minutes through the blazing Seattle sun.  When I got to the station I had to go up a big flight of stairs, and I was so tired of walking by that time that I just ran all the way up them.  On account of the crazy.

The train ride home was uneventful, and I eventually stopped sweating and fell asleep.  I got back to tacoma in good time and drove the ghetto car out of the parking garage and back home.  I actually got to see Carrie before she left for class.  After she left for class, though, I got a phone call saying that Brandy's class (Caterpillar Bracelet) handout wasn't on the computer like it should be.  Could I print out six copies?  Well, no, not exactly.  My printer was running out of ink.  Well, what I could do was burn the handout to a CD, take it to the BF, and print it out on Missa's computer.  Which I did.

I then went immediately to Fred Meyer to buy some much needed foodstuffs and things and supplies.  They didn't have one thing there that I wanted, but I saw some things there that gave me a pretty good idea...

I came home and put all my groceries away, then headed back to the BF again.  But this time I wasn't empty-handed.  I was prepared.  I came in the back way and stashed my package in the corner of the hallway.  I then separated out one of the bunch and hid it behind my back.  Pressing a finger against my lips to warn Leilani not to tip her off, I knocked on the open door of the classroom where Brandy was teaching.

"Can I interrupt class for a second?"  I asked as I walked in.

"Sure," Brandy said.  "What's up?"

I walked over to her and from behind my back I produced a beautiful boquet of flowers.  "I brought you flowers."

"You brought my flowers!"  She gave me a big ol' hug.  Her face took on a cool mix of delight and confusion.  "What's the occasion?"

I shrugged.  "I got my paycheck today."

I snuck back into the hallway and grabbed a couple more boquets and stealthily approached Leilani, who was helping someone at the stringing station.  I tapped her on the shoulder.  "I brought you flowers," I said as I presented them to her.

She put a hand over her heart and pretended to get all teary-eyed.  It was plenny cute.  She said something to the effect that I was the best.  I heartily agreed.

I then snuck behind the counter where Gretchen was ringing somebody up.  I tapped her on the shoulder and said (again), "I brought you flowers."

"Oh!  Chris, you're my favorite!" she exclaimed as she gave me a big ol' hug.

Last but opposite of least I went back into the hall and grabbed up the final boquet.  The door to Carrie's class was open, so I stuck my head in.  Carrie was very busy doing a demo of something and so didn't really notice me (what else is new? tee-hee), so I knocked on the door and quickly started in.

Carrie looked up.  "Hi!" she said with a look of surprise and confusion.

"Hi!" I said back.  "Can I interrupt your class for just a minute?"

"Why?" Carrie asked.  "What's wrong?"

I love that the first thing that Carrie thinks when I come to visit her at work is that something is wrong.  "Nothing's wrong," I said as I stepped up next to her.  "I just brought you something."  I produced a boquet that was literally twice as big as the boquets I had given the other girls.

"You brought me flowers at work!" she exclaimed.  The women in class were all appreciative.  Carrie introduced me as her fiance and said something to the effect that I was "a keeper."  Who am I to disagree?

I left the BF feeling great.  That was a whole bunch of fun.  Nothing like making the days of four gorgeous women.

Now it was time to do something for me.  I went to Chez Target, and when I came back I had a new acquisition:

The MegaMan Anniversary Collection!  I came straight home and played it until Carrie got home from work.  MegaMan 8 is cool.  It's kinda hard (but nothing like the MegaMan 9 that I have on emulation on one of these computers).  It has some animated sequences with voice acting and everything, but the voices they found to do the English version are absolutely hilarious.  Dr. Light has a horrendous speech impediment (can't pronounce Rs or Ls) that makes you crack up when you hear it.  Not to be insensitive to people with speech impediments, but it's just so bizzarre to hear Dr. Light speaking with one.

A surprise invitation

Yesterday (Wednesday) I drove the whole way to Seattle work and back.  It was okay; it'd been a while since I'd done so.  We listened to Juliana Hatfield in the car.

We finished up the first phase of our lives as builders at work.  Now we embark on exciting new adventures!

Anyhoo, Carrie had to teach class at night, which is unusual for a Wednesday, but the PSBF kind of screwed everything up.  I managed to get home before she had to leave.  She was sitting on the bedroom floor curling her hair.  Just as she was about to leave I got a call on my cell phone from Devon wondering if the two of us could go have dinner at one of Carrie's favorite restaurants.  I've forgotten the name of it!  Don't worry, when I learn it I'll put it here:

X=========X

Anyway, I told Devon that Carrie had to teach a class.  So he invited just me instead.  Carrie was very jealous (tee-hee).  I tried to watch some Big O on InDemand (for free), but the sound kept on jerking around and it was kind of hard to watch.  Also the phone kept ringing off the hook for some reasons I can't remember.

I picked up Mary and we drove over to PLU and found the place no problem.  I drove up Pacific, which is unusual, but I still didn't trust the freeway past the mall at that point in the evening.  Dinner was me, Mary, Devon, and Rochelle.  Mary & I had the Gorgonzola Chicken.  Devon had some special salmon thing.  Rochelle had a prawn and scallop ginger salad thing.

Holy crap that food was good.  The company didn't suck, neither.

I brought home a goodly portion of my dinner for Carrie since she missed out.  But first I took Mary home.  And when I emerged from her apartment, I suddenly had this:

Egads!  'Tis a laptop!  It hath no working battery, so it's basically a tiny, old desktop computer that you can easily carry around.  It also doesn't have word on it (I'll see what I can do about that, eh?) and is still running Windows 95!  Yowzah!  But I am very grateful.  And so is Carrie.  Now she can play solitaire at night to fall asleep (assuming I don't keep her up with my snoring).

Anyway, Carrie called shortly after I got home with the 'puter and so I went and picked her up.  She came home and ate the leftovers that I got for her.  Then we went to bed, but she had some real trouble sleeping.  Not even solitaire helped!

Oooohhhh nnnnooooooo!

It ain't too much to jam!

Yesterday (Tuesday) Geoff drove the truck the first leg of the journey again. But he had some extra headphones that he let me borrow at work so I could listen to music through the 'puter. He also let me borrow some Smokey and Miho. It's very cute.

Carrie had spent the day in Seattle as well, with her friend (and mine) Rochelle. They went to Pike Place and all that. She was home by the time I got there, but just barely. She had just put on Cruel Intentions 3. It was a bit too hard to keep track of whom was sleeping with whom, plus I missed the first ten minutes or so. Results? Bad movie!

We went to Panamonica's for a late dinner, picking up Mary on the way. It was "open jam" night, which meant that four or five random musicians would be thrown on stage together and get to jam for 15 minutes or so. It was really loud so we had to go outside to talk. Rochelle came and met us there for a little bit.

Y'know the problem with creating impromptu jam bands like that? They all sound almost exactly alike. Seriously.

Anyway, it was getting late and I had some BF stuff to work on, so Carrie & I took Mary home and then went home ourselves.

Glad I don't live in the midwest

Yesterday (Monday) what happened? I was so used to Carrie getting up before me that when the alarm went off in the morning I assumed it was for her. She had to remind me that it was Chris who was supposed to get up, not Carrie. I skipped my shower because of it. I quickly packed a lunch of mostly snackstuffs.

There was a company meeting for the first couple of hours of work. Okay, so only about an hour. But still, got paid to sit in a room and listen to people talk. Not a bad gig. The sites were kicking my butt all day—there seemed to be something wrong with all of them. One even had a typo in the address and I had to ferret out the real address and change it around.

It was my brother's birthday, but my presents for him had not arrived in the mail yet, so I didn't have anything to give him.

Carrie had had the day off and so was home when I got home. We didn't really do anything in the evening, just relaxed. Didn't even make a formal dinner. I stumbled upon the website of this really cool photographer-slash-stormchaser. Man, I'm glad I don't live in the midwest. Those skies are SCARY.

Gary came over for rasslin'. It was terraslinrific!

Seven Seven-Elevens

Yesterday (Sunday) was a special day. I'll get to that in a moment.

Being that Sunday was my actual only day off, I decided to actually take it off. There were things I could have done, but you know what? I didn't do them. I didn't do much of anything during the day. Carrie had left at an ungodly hour to go do the PSBF. Me? I slept in until 11:00 and it was wunderbar.

It's actually kind of hard for me to remember exactly what I did during the day, which is a good thing to me. I know I watched the last two-thirds of Blade II. I went to Stadium Thriftway for some Secret Stuff. I showered around 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon. I played around on this here internet thingy. You know. I relaxed.

Around 5:00 or so I popped Castle in the Sky into the DVD player in the bedroom. Not the movie itself, but rather Miyazaki's complete storyboards set to the movie's soundtrack. Good lord that man was meticulous. The storyboards are precise. As usual, though, I fell asleep somewhere in the middle of the flick. Ah, well.

The three ladies came home around 7:00 and I had my Secret Stuff all set up on the coffee table for them to see while I was hiding in the bedroom in back of the house. "What's this Secret Stuff?" you might be asking. Why, a vase full of pretty flowers, a card with "Carrie" written on the envelope, and a six-inch chocolate cake with the words "Happy Anniversary Carrie" hand written on it (by my own hand).

That's right. Yesterday was our SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY! And also the ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY of when I proposed to her.

Carrie saw the cake as soon as she came through the door and was appropriately delighted and surprised, although I think Lisa was even more delighted than Carrie was. She kept Awww-ing at me. What can I say? Best boy ever! That's ME, baby. ME.

We celebrated our anniversary by everybody grabbing forks and chawing down on that there cake. There was only a small sliver left by the time we were done. Then Carrie, drove down to Rock Pasta to pick up five pizzas and two salads and drove them up to Mark & Viki's house, where we hung out for a while (and where I beat the Flower Cup of Mario Kart Double Dash on "Mirror" mode for the kids). Then finally we went home and I said goodbye to Lisa on account of I would be gone to work by the time she got up. Well, I would get to see her as she slept (like a rock) on the couch, but that don't really count, do it?

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CARRIE!

Suddenly free Saturday night

Yesterday (Saturday) was supposed to be my day off. Geoff & I were supposed to hang out and go see an horrible movie or something. But instead I had to be at the Sheraton by 9:30 in order to work the door of the Puget Sound Bead Festival. It was much less eventful than last year, due mostly to the fact that I only worked four and 1/2 hours total instead of, oh, some 24 hours like last year. The whole day, though, I was slee-ee-eepy! I think my body expected a day off, and when it didn't get it, it rebelled and tried to force it to take the day off.

I got off at 2:00 and went straight to the bank to deposit some cash (oops), then went home and fell down on the couch to sleep for maybe an hour or so.

I awoke and drove down to Lacey, to Dirty Dave's Gay Nineties Pizza Parlor for my brother's birthday dinner (his actual birthday is Monday). Dirty Dan's is an interesting place, and the pizza, while not exactly the best pizza you'll find, is somehow very appealing. Miko says that in a few weeks I'll probably get a very specific craving for it again.

After that we went to Studio 321 for Fools Play. When ten minutes after showtime rolled around and the only people in the audience were box-office girl Leah, Leah's sister Hannah, and Leah's boyfriend Name Unknown, we decided to just cancel the show. After spending a while wondering what to do with a suddenly free Saturday night, Geoff said, "Well, why don't we see the movie tonight?"

"That's a good idea," I helpfully added.

So we drove up to the big Lakewood Cinemas place and discovered that The Chronicles of Riddick was playing in about 55 minutes. Brandy met us there and the three of us hung out and watched the shit-fest of a film together. It was an absolutely horrible movie, but a really good time.

Afterwards I came home to find Carrie practically asleep already. I ate a bowl of cereal with Lisa and Natalie and then joined Carrie in slumberland. I actually had a little bit of a hard time falling asleep for some reason. But eventually I did. Obviously.

I do declare, i'miracle there

Yesterday (Thursday) a miracle happened upon the land, and in its wake Geoff's truck was fixed. So he came and picked me up and drove up to Mikoko's, who drove us the rest of the way to work. Then after work he drove me back to mine house.

I called Carrie to see what the plan was, and she asked if I could drive ghetto car up to her folks' house to pick up sheets and blankets for our next houseguest. She said she'd call ahead and tell them I was coming and what to give me. So I says, "Sure, baby!" and I drives up towards the place whereat it is to take place.

When I get there I just get blank stares from her dad. "Carrie was supposed to have called and let you know I was coming," I says.

"Oh, she did call, but I couldn't hear her because she was on her cell phone."

"Oh, sure," I says. "It was the cell phone. Uh-huh."

Her mum loaded me up with blankets but just could not understand that I only needed one fitted sheet. No matter how many times I said it.

I then drove to meet the peeps at Rock Pasta. The lovely Lisa Claxton was outside smoking and I almost walked right on by her. We were sat in a little back room in which I'd never been before. I had "Smoke on the Water," which as always is excellent.

After din-dins we all went back to our house and the three girls all talked bead business stuff and ooh-ed and aah-ed over each others' things. Carrie made cosmos. I watched rasslin' on mute in the background, and then Teen Titans not on mute. Then Carrie and I, we went to bed place.

Ghetto car

Yesterday (Wednesday) Carrie needed the Toyota, so I drove Geoff & myself up to my folks' place in the 1992 Ford Tempo, also known as the ghetto car. It behaved just fine the whole time.

I was so sleepy at work that I was delirious. Seriously! I was asleep while I was awake and typing. It was kinda freaky. The fact that I had some Krispy Kreme donuts probably didn't help much.

Geoff was picked up from work, so I had to solo drive the final leg from my brother's house back to Tacoma. Man, was that a bad idea. I kept on almost falling asleep at the wheel over and over again. When I finally made it home after about 35 minutes of unsafe driving, I simply walked into the house and fell down on the couch. Dead asleep. Carrie had to go back to work and also do some sorta setup for the PSBF, so I roused myself enough to do a couple loads of dishes and run some towels and blankets through the washer/dryer cycle.

TV Land was playing a "best of" marathon of Alf (the original series, not the Talk Show), which led me to wonder, "How many episodes long could it possibly be?" Carrie eventually got home and said that her PSBF setup consisted mostly of hanging out with Viki and some class instructors at a bar. Ah, well. There was slightly more cleaning done, and then our houseguest Natalie Cohen arrived. We had a dinner that consisted of a ton of munchy things (including brie with cherry/basalmic glaze, olives, and fried gnocci with a gorgonzola dipping sauce that was fan-freakin'-tastic) and then hung out for a while. While Carrie & Natalie ooh-ed and aah-ed over their various beads, I watched some of The World is Not Enough on Spike TV. Soon we were all going to the bed places.

A leftover rib

Yesterday (Tuesday) Geoff & I listened to The Powerpuff Girls: Heroes & Villains on the way up to mine bruddah's place. I had a leftover rib for lunch (along with some other stuff), and was very sleepy at work.

On the way home I got a call from Carrie saying she'd be working until 9:00-ish that evening. Then I got a call from Brandy asking if I could bring Geoff to the store. I said yes and did so, so I got to see Carrie for a brief second at the store.

I got home and made two cheddar brats for din-dins whilst watching Teen Titans. My plan then was to get to work on a whole bunch of BF stuff that I was falling behind on, but instead Mosquito was on the Sci-Fi Channel, and that put me right to sleep. I awoke when Carrie called me to come pick her up.

I caught myself up on all the BF work and then Carrie & I went to Fred Meyer right before it closed to stock up on stuff we might need whilst we're having houseguests (starting tonight—Wednesday). We then went gratefully to bed.

Day off!

Yesterday (Monday) I had the day off, so I got up and took a 45-minute walk. I spent a good deal of the first part of the day cleaning up the living/dining room after the aftermath of the 4th of July party. It went very well. At one point Cat stopped by (because she thought she'd left her platter here, but she hadn't) and said she couldn't believe a party had happened in there just yesterday!

I packed a couple of lunches into my Japanese bug spray lunchbox and walked down to the BF to have lunch with Carrie, who was really too busy to come home for lunch. I made chicken sammitches. After lunch I drove up to her folks' house (they were out watching a movie), broke in, and fixed their computer and TV. I'm industrious!

I got home and grilled up all the ribs and chicken that hadn't gotten grilled on the 4th, and when Carrie (finally) got home at like 6:45 or so we ate 'em up. Then we went to the Tacoma Mall and Carrie got some "shopping therapy" done. She's feeling much less stressed than she has been feeling of late, which is, as they say, a good thang. She bought some jeans and a shirt and a skirt, and I bought a new shirt. We swung by Chez Target on the way home and she bought some hair dye.

Later in the evening after we'd gone to bed, Carrie made smores in the oven. She thought all the carbs and whatnot would put us in a food coma. It worked for one of us. Not her, though. Oops! She didn't get good sleep because she was up all night, and I didn't get good sleep because she kept waking me up because she couldn't sleep.

First smore ever

Yesterday (Sunday) was das Fourth fo Julie (duh). Carrie & I woke up an hour later than we'd wanted to due to the fact that I am a Fast Mac on the snooze button. But we still were able to completely clean the house before 3:00 in the P to the M. I even went to Chez Target and bought some stuff like paper plates and citronella candles and pink flip-flops for Carrie (that she didn't even end up wearing because the pink outfit was too hot).

The party was all right I guess. Everybody left really early. It didn't seem like our house was the destination, just the stopover for most people. The only holdouts were Taisha, Devon & Mitsumi, Mary, and my brother. But I did make Brandy tap-out during a tickle fight, and there was a lot of badmitton played (though no two-sticks, but that's okay; didn't have enough racquets for that). The Fools Play people watched Interstella 5555. I played both Geoff and Brandy at Mario Kart for a little bit. The final holdouts got to enjoy smores cooked over the simmering embers of Chris Gouker's barbeque. It was actually Mitsumi's first smore ever, which was pretty cool. She loved it. And rightfully so.

Oh, and on an unrelated note, I'd like to give a shout-out to Flying Omelette for putting a link back to thisischris.com from her website. I guess she found out that I made her site my Site of the Month. Somehow. Thanks, FO!

Open mic

Yesterday (Thursday) Geoff brought some Aphex Twin for the car ride up to work. It reminds me a lot of Tangent. Probably because Tangent listens to a lot of Aphex Twin.

I had sushi for lunch.

On the way home Geoff would not stop asking us "Brain Questions" about a Charmed poster that I'd found on the street outside of Brandy's apartment on Wednesday night.

Traffic was horridible, so by the time I got home Carrie had already left for her class. But during the day she had signed a contract with a caterer, so there's a big check in that box, baby! Anyway, I went and deposited my BF check, and put like $500 in Carrie's account so it could cover what bills were sent out. I also bought four big impatiens to plant in that little corner of the backyard. Which I did as soon as I got home.

I then realized that being all alone in the house with nothing to do but be on the computer (after having been on a computer all day at work) was just about the last thing I wanted to do. So I went down to Panamonica's.

I didn't know it, but it happened to be open mic night. I sat next to Krissy as she worked the sound board. One guy was really good. I think his name was Josh Adams. Yeah, that's it. The rest were typical open-mic type of folks. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Of the month: July '04

Well, it's that time again. The first of the month; time to roll out a new selection of things you should visit, read, hear, and see.

Link of the Month:
Flying Omelette's Kitchen

This is a fun place to go if you like old video games. Flying Omelette (or just "FO") puts up some really well-written reviews and there are funny cameos/weirdness databases. ANGRY BEEF is also a regular on the forums, so go take a visit.

Album of the Month:
NMVGPTS: this will all end badly

Finally available (though not online) is the first full-lenght album from the T-town band NMVGPTS (No MoVinG ParTS). It's good, mellow, spacey, noisy, instrumental rock—the absolute perfect background to long days spent on the 'puter. Trust me.

Book of the Month:
coverI, Robot: The Illustrated Screenplay

No, this is NOT the screenplay to the Will Smith movie coming out this summer. This is the screenplay that was written in 1977 by none other than Harlan Ellison—and is ACTUALLY BASED ON THE BOOK!!! This is perhaps the greatest movie that never got made, but it's nice to appreciate the screenplay on the page. Maybe when I'm rich...

DVD of the Month:
coverThe Rundown

This is one of the best stupid action flicks I've seen. It's just so much freakin' fun, and it knows just the right tone so that it doesn't take itself too seriously but you still get wrapped up in the characters and their interactions. The relationship between The Rock and Sean Everett Scott is dy-no-mite. My only reservation is that I think director Peter Berg sort of over-directed the film—there are too many fast cuts and fancy camera angles that sometimes get in the way of trying to watch what's actually happening. But I watched this DVD more than any other in the month of June, so that's a-okay in my book, babycakes!

Those girls and their curries.

Yesterday (Wednesday) I got up much, much later than had wanted to. I finished up the BF party pamphlet, showered, and shaved, but I didn't have enough time to eat breakfast. Geoff brought some Black Eyed Peas for the car ride up. Traffic was horridible going up, but we still gots to the work on time.

Work happened. I ate my Carrie-packed lunch for breakfast as soon as I got to work. And I was so, so sleepy. So sleepy that during my lunch break I actually bought a mocha frappaccino just so I wouldn't fall asleep at the keyboard. And I drank several cups of caffeinated tea a-la Geoff. It didn't help.

I drove Geoff straight to his folks' house after dropping off my bro, on account of Geoff's truck still ain't working. He gave me the gas moneys, though, which I greatly appreciated. I drove to the bonk and put the moneys right in my account, then I picked up Brandy and we went to Mekong and had the yummy foods. I had chicken with giant mushrooms and caramelized onions cooked in a clay pot. Brandy had a curry. Those girls and their curries. I tell ya. We talked a lot about how much Nickelodeon cartoons absolutely suck. She said that that Danny Phantom show wasn't actually too bad, though, so I'll have to check it out.

We went back and hung out at her place for a while. It was fun, but maybe we should hang out some time when I'm not so dead tired. I'm told I'm more fun when I'm awake. Well, I tell myself that; who knows the truth?

Are you to be knowing? I am not to be knowing.

Then I went to Panamonica's where Carrie, Christine, Mary, and Dylan were hanging out. Leilani and Linnea were supposed to be there as well, but they never showed. Carrie had been there since like 6:30, so we didn't stay for very much longer—maybe five minutes or so. Then home and to bed. I think I got a little bit better sleep than the night before, but we'll see how work goes today...
