State of Mind

Last night on Letterman was a frikkin' amazing blind guitarist/singer named Raul Midon. I went out today and bought his album based just on the one song he performed. Imagine a combination of Stevie Wonder, Seal, and Victor Wooten.

The Costco Fiasco

Um, Saturday Carrie & I took Melina to the zoo. Sunday we took photos at FP practice then my family came over and gave me birthday presents and we went to Katie Downs.

Anyway, yesterday (Tuesday) was "The Costco Fiasco." Linnea was borrowing Carrie's Costco card so she could go there and buy a birthday cake for Melina as well as print some photos. Well, we needed a ton of photos printed as well, so Carrie asked if I would mind going with. Of course not!

I teach Linnea how to download her photos and then I download my own while she is looking for a cake. When it comes time to pay, though, she doesn't remember the PIN to her debit card, so I front her the five bucks in cash. We leave without a cake.

We drive to her bank (in downtown) so she can change her PIN, then back to Costco, where we have lunch at the little counter inside the store. They're outta pizza. Melina gets a hot dog and practically takes only one bite out of each end.

I go to the bathroom while Linnea goes to get a cake, and we'll meet at the photo pickup place. Easy, right?

I get to the photo pickup place first and pick up the photos (they're dropped off right in front of me). Linnea gets there without a cake. Her new PIN wouldn't work. And she couldn't write a check because it's not her name on the Costco card. So we leave with only photos and a rather upset Melina.

When we get outside Linnea realizes that she doesn't have Carrie's Costco card. So she goes back in to get it, but they won't give it to her because it isn't her card.

So when Carrie got home for her split shift (after eating Melina's leftover hot dog that I took home) she had to drive out to Costco and get a whole new card. Il Fiasco!

Get Out!

Yesterday (Friday) morning I got up and was working feverishly by 8:00 in the AM to get the Bead Factory workshops up and running by 9:00 for Class Sign-Up Day. I did it.

Then, seeing as how Carrie had the day off, the two of us decided to walk to Breakfast. We walked to the Old Milwaukee Cafe, but it was closed 'cause the owner had shingles. So instead we walked up 6th Ave to Shakabra (sic) and had breakfast there. The proportions there turned out to be HUGEMUNGOUS! Seriously. Next time we go we'll just order a couple sides or something. I ate some of the leftovers for lunchtime (and I still couldn't finish all the leftovers for breakfast this morning). I took the car in to Jiffy Lube and had $211 worth of work done on it just to get it out of the way. We've been spending money left and right recently; we should really cool it.

In the evening we went to The Ram to have dinner with Carrie's family because they hadn't done Father's Day due to Carrie being out of town. We had to wait for well over an hour before her mum showed up, so I was starving. We ordered some homegrown potato chips as an appetizer and I just shoveled them in. For the actual dinner I had baked chicken dijon, which was very tasty. I only ate half of it, tho, due to being so stuffed with chips.

When we got home Carrie had fun digging around on iTunes and buying miscellaneous music for a mix CD she wanted to make.

We went out for two meals in one day. I can't think of any witty comment about that.

Sounds like fun-city, don't it?

I went back to the doctor yesterday (Thursday) so she could stick stuff up my butt. I was hoping I would get a firm date on when the surgery would take place, but I only got a general area. It should take place sometime around July 27th, but hopefully earlier.

In the meantime there are a couple of procedures I have to do, including a dye study and an ANAL DILATION.

Sounds like fun-city, don't it?

Neighbor Gary came over in the PM and we watched Spirited Away. Good movie about a grueling experience.

I'm Not a Bad Person. Honest.

I'm not really a bad, lazy person. It's just that I really only like writing for this site in the morning, and my mornings have been filled by other things recently. Like sleep.

Anyhoo, time for another week-long roundup:

THURSDAY:

Last thursday I was cleared to drive and drink. But not at the same time. Taisha was supposed to hang out with me in the evening but she had to work late instead.

FRIDAY:

Taisha ended up hanging out with me in the evening on Friday instead. We watched Dragonslayer starring a very young Peter MacNicol. I also talked to Sandy via the phone.

SATURDAY:

I went down to Fools Play and was a part of the show... kind of. We did the whole Game as Show format, wherein the whole show was a massive Red Pen Job. I was in the audience taking notes on the show, then at the end of the night they did a scene that incorporated all of my notes.

SUNDAY:

Fools Play Practice didn't really happen because it was just me and Geoff, basically. He brought me kinda up to speed on some stuff that FP had been working on, then we played Mario Kart.

It was also Father's Day, so my brother and I took our Papa out to dinner at the Hob-Nob. I had a French Dip sammitch.

MONDAY:

Had lunch with Brandy at Tatanka Take-out, which serves bison meat. Was supposed to be Brandy & Gretchen, but Gretchen never called back. I had another dip sammitch, except with bison burger patties instead of roast beef. I also forgot my wallet, so Brandy paid.

Carrie came home in the evening. Late. In fact, so late I think it might have actually been Tuesday Morning.

TUESDAY:

Carrie worked a half day, and in the afternoon she, Steph, and I went and saw Batman Begins <Insert half-hearted promise to write a review here>. For dinner Carrie & I went to the Parkway (hadn't been in quite a long time), but there was a table full of really obnoxious people—and it was a huge party. Annoying. We cleaned and played Mario Kart in the evening, but Carrie got exhaused and went to bed at 9:00-ish. Me? Midnight-ish.

Stocked Up

Tuesday Carrie took me shopping at Fred Meyer and stocked up for the week. That evening Carrie & I went to The Ram on The Waterfront to have dessert because it was her last evening before flying out to Bead & Button for almost an entire week.

Yesterday I barbequed a big ribeye steak and ate it by myself. Almost all of it. Then I was picked up by Geoff & Brandy and we three went down to that big theater in Lakewood and got tickets for Batman Begins. Kate Molly and Austin met us there, and the five of us watched the film.

Last Week

I'm way frikkin' behind on this blog thing, and I know if I don't do this now I'm gonna forget what happened (and the whole point of me doing this is so that I don't forget what's happened in my life).

WEDNESDAY:

Carrie & I went out to dinner at Primo Grill. I had quail, which was pretty good. Carrie had a pizza with super-spicy sausage on it, so I couldn't really eat it. After dinner I sprung a tiny poo leak, which pissed me the hell off. But my new supplies had come in the mail earlier so I put on a new poo bag, one that doesn't let me see my poo, so it's much, much better.

Carrie went out to Target in the evening and came back loaded with DVDs:

For some reason that we don't understand, Season 5 of Sex and the City only has eight episodes, while Season 6 has around 20. Not that I care.

THURSDAY:

On Thursday Carrie was planning on going with Heather to the Supermall to look for sandals. Viki called and said that she was taking her kids to the Supermall theater so the boys could see Episode III and Sophie could see Traveling Pants or something. So what ended up happening was that Carrie, Heather, and I met the Lareaus at the Red Robin by the Supermall, then I went with the boys to Episode III while Viki went with Sophia to Madagascar while Carrie & Heather went shopping. Carrie didn't find anything, but Heather got some pants and a couple tops.

FRIDAY:

On Friday (let's see if I can remember everybody) Carrie, Brandy, Linnea, Geoff, and I went to Grand Central Casino to see The Boinkers play, and so the ladies could dance (and Brandy could get drunk). We were met there by Cat & Chris, Kate & Austin, and Melissa. I think that's everybody. It was fun, although the chairs hurt my back, so at one point Geoff & I walked around outside and talked about Saved by the Bell for some reason.

SATURDAY:

On Saturday we did some cleaning (mostly Carrie did some cleaning). Ryan was gonna be in the area on account of his girlfriend was coming down to see family. So she dropped him off at my house for a couple hours, which was cool. Carrie made guacamole. Later on in the evening Carrie & I went with Linnea, Jay, and their daughter to Starbucks and hung out for a while. Even later on we ordered pizza and watched Be Cool.

SUNDAY:

Carrie went to work early on Sunday to work with Leilani on PSBF stuff (and ended up driving to Mark & Viki's to pick up the badges, where they found that Viki had made them breakfast with bacon and everything).

I, meanwhile, did a little bit of straightening. Carrie got home in the afternoon, and then cleaned up the kitchen while I cleaned up the outside barbeque. She bought some self-lighting charcoal and we barbequed up some burgers (Carrie barbequed up some hot links—spicy hot dogs). Linnea and family came over and we all hung out for a while. There was much frenetic dancing by the two-year-old.

Sinfully Cool:
The Big Picture

For some reason all day yesterday (Monday) I thought it was Tuesday. Seriously! My head and my gut kept telling me it was Tuesday, and I never questioned it or thought about it until way late in the evening. I think it was because Carrie worked a full day on Sunday (she usually doesn't), so it felt like Sunday was Monday, and my internal clock got set a day ahead. It was weird.

Anyway, Brandy swung by the house at 4:30 to pick me up so that we could go to Seattle and see Sin City in the last remaining theater in which it was playing in the entire western half of the state. I wrote a note for Carrie, but she came home as we were leaving so I dramatically ripped it up, crying, "Well, I don't need to leave this anymore, now do I!?"

Yahoo Maps gave us insanely retarded diretions on how to get to downtown Seattle, but we followed them anyway. It would have been much faster to take any number of other routes, but oh well, we got there in time anyway.

The theater at which Sin City was playing is called "The Big Picture." Neither of us had heard of it before, so we drove by the supposed address of the theater and only see the restaurant "El Gaucho." Confused, we tried to turn around and head back (Brandy accidentally turned the wrong way down a one-way street that neither of us saw any markings or warnings about). Eventually she parked about a block away and we walked over to El Gaucho and went in the front entrance. Around a corner was a sign that said, "The Big Picture downstairs" with an arrow pointing to a doorway. This doorway led to a long flight of stairs that descended into the bowels of the building. At the bottom we turned a corner and found ourselves in a lavish, 40s-style lounge/bar, which was completely empty.

What the...? Or as it would be spelled in Heathcliff, "Wot th'?"

We walked back up the stairs and checked the sign. Sure enough, it pointed down these very stairs. That's weird... just then, though a gaggle of peoples showed up and trundled down the stairs so we followed them. This time there were a couple of people in the bar, including one at the door who was selling tickets, so we each bought one. We hit the restrooms, after which Brandy deliberated over whether or not she should order a drink, and if so, what kind would go well with a movie like Sin City? A Jack & Coke, maybe?

She eventually decided not to get anything, and we wandered around the bar until we found a doorway that led into a large, plush movie theater. The type of theater where the seats have super-comfy padding that's practically a foot thick and the front row has wicker ottomans (ottomen?) in front of each and every seat. Nice-sized screen, too.

So we settled down in the second row and watched Sin City. I'll review it sometime this week (I gots a lotta work to do this week, so I'll get to it when I get to it). It wasn't until about 30 minutes into the film that I suddenly realized it was Monday and not actually Tuesday, so it was a bit late to do anything about it by then.

Then Brandy dropped me off back at home around 8:30, 8:40, something like that. Shortly thereafter Carrie left to go back to the store to hang out with Linnea while she was closing, and Gretchen spontaneously showed up there as well, so the three of them plus Viki all went to Red Robin after closing and didn't get back until almost 11:00 or so. I passed the time by watching El Mariachi.

Anyway. The Big Picture is a really, really cool space. I wanna go back there as much as possible, so whenever they're showing a movie I wanna see I'm gonna try to go. Y'all should as well.

C vil eder dego, atow sandbu ses inaro. Nojo demar trux; summit cowsin summit dux.

Let's see if I can remember what all we did yesterday (Saturday). Carrie went to Trader Joe's for supplies. When she got back we called Trevor to see if it would be okay if we brought over his belated birthday present then. He said that Mark & Viki were still asleep, though, so he wasn't sure if it was okay for anyone to come over. We told him to call us when they woke up, which he did about an hour (?) later.

So we went over there and gave him his present, and his card (which I had made on the 'puter here, and I was in a kinda weird mood when I made it). For some reason I got really winded by this, so we didn't stay around very long. Just long enough for them to inflate their GIANT backyard water slide. Thing is frikkin' huge.

Then we stopped by Popeye's on the way home and picked up some fried chicken. Not kitchen fresh chicken; fried chicken. With mashed potatoes and that macaroni that tastes more like meat than cheese. We took it home and ate some, then played some Mario Kart.

Then the Goukers came over. Cat gimped on the couch with the other gimp (me) while Chris tried to fix our dishwasher. Carrie & I played some more Mario Kart, and later on Cat tried to read some French out loud (from Le Petit Prince). It was one of the funniest things I've heard in a long, long time. Carrie doesn't speak French, and even she was busting a gut (metaphorically—not literally like I did a while back).

They left, and then a while later (around 5:00-ish) Christine showed up along with Viki & Sophia. Then all of us went out to University Place and a giant house where Gretchen's sister Nova lives, to celebrate Gretchen's gradumation from the high school! Highlight of the night was definitely Missa getting trashed and swinging a baseball bat at a pinata. Hoo-boy!

We came home and I think we mighta played more Mario Kart. I can't rightly remember. But Carrie got real sleepy so off she went. I wasn't sleepy yet so I stayed up and watched Bram Stoker's Dracula on Encore.
