Paper House

Yesterday (Wednesday) was much more eventful than the first half of the week. First of all, Carrie had the day off, so she slept in until 10:00 or so. She spent the rest of the morning and much of the apréz-midi working on jewelry.

I, in the meantime, ground some coffee and got a pot started for Carrie, and continued working on the Bead Factory's How-To Book.

In the later afternoon Carrie went out on errands, including the gym and the post office. When she came back she started making a pot of pasta sauce, a yummy red sauce with sausage and black olives. Is good. I like. I called Laura to see if it would be okay for me to pick her up at 6:00 for dinner. She said that she was a Shakabra studying, so I could pick her up there.

About eight minutes 'til 6:00 she calls me again and says that Shakabra is shutting down and kicking her out. What the f--k kind of coffee shop closes at 6:00!? That's pretty durned stoopid.

So I agree to meet her halfway to the house and jump in my car and start driving towards Shakabra. What I failed to take into consideration (and what she failed to tell me) is that she walks insanely quickly. Insanely. So quickly that I passed her before I even bothered to start looking for her. She saw me pass and called me, and we had a good laugh about it. I turned around and by the time I got back to her she was only two blocks away from the house. But it was drizzling so I drove her those two blocks anyway.

Besides the spaghetti, Carrie also made some garlic bread to go with the meal, and cracked open some red wine. While we were eating I complained to Laura, "It's too bad there aren't any carbs in this meal!"

After dinner we watched part of an episode of Mythbusters while fighting the "itis." Then I started designing my next etching design and Carrie started working on more jewelry stuffs. We told Laura she was more than welcome to stay and continue studying as she had been doing at Shakabra, so she set up her monstrously gigantic laptop on the dining room table (the thing is so wide it has a separate number pad just like a regular keyboard) and went about writing a paper.

At 9:00 I was exiled into the bedroom to watch a new episode of Mythbusters, but then at 10:00 I got my revenge by exiling Carrie into the bedroom to watch two new episodes of Laguna Beach (there wasn't enough light in the bedroom for me to properly etch). Here is the design I etched:

I got confirmation from both Carrie and Laura that it was a cute shoe design that was actually appealing to women (I'm sometimes a bit fuzzy on appealing shoe designs for women). I etched four pint glasses with it.

After Laura got to the fourth page of her paper, Carrie took her home (it was around midnight), and after she got back we put on some バトマン and went to bed.
