Good Lunch; Better Dinner

Yesterday (Wednesday, right? right) I made a really, really good lunch. I made a bleu cheese cream sauce and tossed a sliced-up chicken breast into it. Like chicken cordon-bleu but creamier and the chicken wasn't breaded. Is chicken cordon-bleu breaded? I cain't umember.

I talked with both Sandy and Leia in the afternoon. Geoffs came by and hung out in the later afternoon. So later, in fact, that Carrie called to have me pick her up from work while he was over there, so I brought him along (and left him at the store).

Forgoing dinner at our place or out at a restaurant, we went in the evening over to Cat & Chris's house for dinner, where also there was Heather & Chris. I helped Cat make a delicious spaghetti sauce with onions, garlic, and sweet Italian sausage. We brought two bottles of wine and some garlic bread as well. 'Twas tasty. We watched a new episode of Project Runway as well. Gary called while I was over there, which was coo' as I hadn't talked to him in quite a while.

Chris G. spent the entire time in the office playing Everquest II. You would never guess that he was a MMORPG type of guy.

Carrie drove us home (I'd had a bit of the wine we'd brought) and we went to bed. It was pretty late already so we didn't watch any new Veronica Mars episode. Too bad; we only have like four to go!

I Forgot About Capoeira !

Yesterday (Tuesday) morning after I dropped Carrie off I came home and waited until it was 9:00 so I could make a bank run and deposit her paycheck and my rebate check. I then went down to the Neighborhood Market and bought three books of stamps, which I painstakingly adhered to the invitations for the Heather bridal shower that Carrie is throwing. Okay, so it wasn't very painstaking. After I dropped them into the mail slot at the store I came home.

Carrie had a split-shift. I made a whole bunch of potstickers for lunch, but we were both still hungry so Carrie made a lemon-garlic-cheese pasta as a second course. We each made half of lunch, and both halves were rather tasty. After lunch we spent most of the afternoon taking a nice, luxurious nap! 'Twas nice, 'twas.

Nothing really at all happened in the evening. Except for that I completley forgot that it was Tuesday and therefore did not head to Jefferson Park to join Steph in some Capoeira. Whoops! Instead I sat around, ate a pizza, and watched Frank Miller's Robocop 2 on the TV.

Carrie's class (Handmade Clasps) got out just on time, and Leilani's class (which Laura was attending) was running long so she told Carrie she could leave, so Carrie called me and I picked her up. We watched two more episodes of Veronica Mars - The Complete Second Season before turning on Dave and trying to go to sleep.

Alle Kinder

Yesterday (Monday) was a day of many children. After a refreshingly ordinary morning I went down to The Bead Factory and picked Carrie up for lunch... along with all three Lareau kids and their pug puppy with a broken leg, Bella.

We got food at Fantastic Burgers on 12th and Sprague and at it around the dining room table here, much to Fantastico's chagrin. She hid promptly under the table from the rampagingly cute puppy and the three kids. Carrie took them all to a park, and at one point I was ordered to go out and buy ice cream sammitches. When I came back, Linnea was parking in the driveway. She came inside and added her two kids to the bunch. It was quite something, and it lasted until way late in the afternoon. 5:00 or something like that.

I'm not sure exactly when, but at some point I had time to have a phone conversation with Leia. We're gonna hang out later this week. Also I actually got quite a lot of work done.

For dinner Carrie did our new weekly thing of cooking up just a tonne of chicken. Then over the course of the week we use the leftovers for various meals. Yesterday she had me dig up a recipe for chicken marsala, which she matched with a garlic/cheese pasta.

On a whim we called to see if Laura was having her work break soon, and it turned out she was going to be having it at almost exactly the same time that dinner would be ready. So she biked to our house and the three of us all had a really, really delicious dinner together. That was fun!

A while after dinner I went back to work but shortly found myself getting exhorbitantly sleepy, so I dozed off on the couch for about an hour. After that when I tried to go back to work I found that I was completely, utterly uninspired creatively. Bum-mer!

Carrie and I watched two more episodes of Veronica Mars - The Complete Second Season before going to sleep. Soooo good...

Tissue-Honker

Yesterday (Sunday) morning Carrie & I slept in a little bit again. We went out to Target and then Metropolitan Market to get together Carrie's gift for Heather's bridal shower.

I'd forgotten to eat breakfast in the morning (even though I'd made breakfast for Carrie), so I was getting plenny hungry. But instead of buying something expensive at Metropolitan Market, I realized I had meats and cheeses at home, so I bought a 70-cent mini french baguette thing. When we got back home Carrie made an extraordinarily tasty pastrami, havarti, and bleu cheese sammitch with the newly-bought bread.

Meanwhile I prepped a disc with Laura's new handout on it. As soon as I was ready I got the sammitch from Carrie and drove to the Bead Factory, where I printed out the handout for Laura, who was on break and therefore couldn't fully appreciate me.

Then it was up to my brother's place for practice, which we took easy due to all still being rather exhausted from the FPRL performance we'd done the night before. The last half of practice was about re-working Strip Club Sub to be Strip Club Sub: The Next Generation. I have a new character, "DJ Spins," who is the engineer of the Strip Club Sub. He makes the propellers spin by spinning records. The cheesier the record the faster the sub goes.

I came home only to drive Carrie off to El Toro a short while later for Heather's shower. When I came home I finished up the re-design of Station Wow and caught myself up on my own website here. I also washed a load of dishes and watched Conan O'Brien hosting the Emmy Awards. Conan funny.

Carrie called me to pick her and Cat up around 9:45 or so. They'd both had many a margarita at El Toro, so I was more than happy to chauffeur them around. Carrie & I watched another episode of Veronica Mars - The Complete Second Season, so now we've finished three of six discs. More than halfway there!

I had trouble falling to the sleep last night, through, which was boo. I played a lot of Animal Crossing before I finally got sleepy.

Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight

Yesterday (Saturday), hoo-boy. What a day. Wow. Really.

It started off simple enough with a little bit of sleeping in, and then Carrie & I went to Trader Joe's and Safeway. We walked around the neighborhood, and even found the house into which one of the new Bead Babes is moving. She was on her back porch on her phone. The day didn't really start taking off until my brother picked me up for the Fools Play workshop.

The workshop was attended by the usual attendees, sans Leia & Kedar (who were at PAX), plus two guys who hadn't been there before. But Taisha showed up about half an hour into the workshop with a gaggle of teenage girls.

After the workshop we all of us (almost) went to the sub sammitch corner in olympia, so-called by me because across the street from a Subway Sandwich place is an indie subway sammitch place. Mike & I got our sammitches there due to their unbelievable superiority to the Subway Sandwich sammitches. But everyone else went there, so we got our sammitches to go and I ate mine in the competing restaurant. There's some good stories behind that sub sammitch corner, maybe someday I'll relay them. Maybe... maybe not.

When we got back to the theater Geoffs was already there setting up, which was ve'y cool. We practiced many, many rasslin' moves, for last night was

Fools Play Rasslin' League:
Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight

Holy crap. If you missed it you should never forgive yourself, because it was freakin' amazing. Especially considering we only had two weeks to prep three new characters. It was something else; one of the best FPRL shows we've ever done (some people are calling it the very best).

And the place was absolutely packed. So many people came out to see the show that they had to actually move the box office table outside. In fact, Brandy was actually sitting just outside the doorway to outside. Here, I took a picture:

You can kind of see the blurry Brandy way the heck back there. I'm told it wasn't our biggest audience ever, but it was one of the most responsive ever. They were totally into the show, and all of Taisha's and Geoff's new characters were completely "over" with the crowd.

I was supremely happy with it.

Afterwards almost everybody (I'm not kidding) went out to the Rib Eye restaurant. I hung out at a table with Mathias, Brandy, and Mathias's friend from Florida (and bandmember of Neskimos), Dan.

It was also a little bittersweet because it was Brandy's last night in town. She had to be at the airport at 5:00 AM or something ridiculous, so she decided just to pull an all-nighter and come hang out with us all after the show. But she'll be back in town for Heather & Chris's wedding in less than a month and a half. Very cool. I gave her a painting (link is probably Not Safe For Work) as a going-away present. I also took a photo of her that she probably wouldn't be too happy if I posted. So I won't.

By the way, I finished re-vamping her website. You should check it out.

Eventually Sandy & Mathias (along with Dan) took me on home to my wife.

Even still today at practice Mike, Geoff, and I were all talking about just how well the show went and just how much the audience loved it. It was very gratifying, and plus we made an entire month's rent in just that one night. So that's a nice bonus.

Re-Ups to Friday

I was really rushed when I wrote Friday's entry, so I left out a lot of details. Let's see what I can remember!

Brandy came over only about fifteen minutes before Carrie got off work, so when she called we both went to the store and picked her up. After we were done with her website, Brandy was nice enough to go to Target and buy some shower invitations for Carrie (Carrie is throwing one of Heather's showers). Brandy was going to Target anyway to buy Heather's shower gift... a gift she won't even get to see Heather open. You see, Brandy is right now in New York, and Heather's shower just started about fifteen minutes ago.

There were nine total of us at mum's birthday dinner party thing: The two parents, the three kids, a wife, a boyfriend, a fake daughter, and a grandma. Mom and I both had the steak gorgonzola-alfredo meal, which was actually really, really good.

When we were all back at the house Carrie was being very cute with Alexis (Susan's fake daughter). Carrie would pretend to freak out whenever Alexis put her Cinderella doll in Carrie's lap. At one point, Alexis turned to Carrie and said very quietly, "Will you go play with me over there?" as she pointed to the other side of the house.

There, that's a little bit more detail. I feel better now.

The Sation is Almost Wow...

I don't have much time 'cause I should be getting ready for FPRL tonight. So quickly:

Yesterday (Friday) Brandy came over in the later afternoon and we worked on revamping her website. If you go there right now you'll see that it is quite a work in progress. It should be done sometime on Sunday.

Then in the evening we went and met my family at Olive Garden in Federal Way for my mom's birthday dinner (even though her birthday is in April). Then we all met again back at my folks' place to open presents and what-not. Carrie had a particularly vicious allergy attack due to my folks' cats, so when we got home I doped her up with some Benadryl and we went to bed.

I'll have much more time (and much more to write about) tomorrow...

It Just Kinda Slipped My Mind

Yesterday (Thursday), umm... I created a handout in the morning for Laura's first-ever class, which is pretty cool if'n ye ask me. But only if'n ye. Carrie had a split-shift, and after I took her back to teach her class in the evening I drove to Bartell's and bought two types of pain relievers (Tylenol and Ibuprofen), then went and got my mom's birthday present. I had to get it used, 'cause nobody had it! Boo! Oh, well, it's still just as goot.

10:00 PM rolled around and I suddenly realized that I'd completely forgotten to eat dinner! I hadn't eaten since lunch. That was probably why I was so danged hungry. Carrie called shortly thereafter to say she was going out after class with Viki, and that she'd bring me home some foodstuffs. She didn't end up getting home until midnight, but she did bring some delicious pizza with her. I'm gonna go eat some of it for breakfast right now, in fact.

Soooooooo Cute

I forgot to mention this, but Sunday morning Carrie & I went garage sailing and I found the best of all possible finds:

Sooooooooo freakin' cute. It was only 50 cents. When I saw it, I involuntarily shouted out, "Must have!" Sandy & Leia were appropriately jealous when they came over on Monday.

Anyway, yesterday (Wednesday) Carrie & I went over to her folks' house for din-dins. They'd gone to Europe (Budapest and Prague) a week or so ago, and they brought us back some cheeses and chocolates and a pretty pitcher and the like. Very nice of them. We drove Grandma K back to her place afterwards, and then Carrie realized that she'd forgotten her purse at her folks' house, so we had to drive back there and get it before coming home. I missed Mythbusters because of it! Boo!

I'm Watching You !!!

So my "break from teh intarwebs" also became a break from blogging over the weekend. Very quickly, here is some stuffs that happened:

I saw Snakes on a Plane with a whole bunch of peoples on Friday. On Sunday I saw Reefer Madness - The Movie Musical (Laura & Brandy brought it over). On Monday Leia and Sandy came over and we had the smoked salmon sammitch special at The Rosewood Café. We also watched Veronica Mars while Leia & I painted (see previous posts for the paintings).

Yesterday (Tuesday) was Brandy's last day at the Bead Factory. It was also the day Veronica Mars - The Complete Second Season came out on DVD, so after I took Carrie to work I went immediately to Target and picked it up. I also picked up OutKast's Idlewild CD (it was on sale for less than ten bucks).

After work Carrie & I watched six freakin' episodes of Veronica Mars Season 2. We then had trouble sleeping because we couldn't stop thinking about what was going to happen next in the season.

Tranji

Yesterday (Wednesday) Carrie had the day off! Hoo-ray! I still had to get up by 8:00, though, because the Cable Guy was coming over. See, for some reason a while back we stopped getting channels 2 through 14 (except 8 and intermittently 7) in the living room. They came in fine in the bedroom. The Cable Guy was scheduled to come and fix it between 8:00 and Noon.

He actually showed up some time around 9:15 I believe. But he ended up staying until almost noon. It took him forevah to figure out what was wrong, and then he basically had to re-wire the whole house and fix something-or-other up on the utility pole.

I spent much of the time he was here tidying up the house. Just to keep on top of things. Househusband duties. Y'know.

Carrie made two outings, one in the morning to Sonja's (which was actually open this time! Yay!) and Trader Joe's, and the other in the afternoon to Ever After and some other store. Safeway, I presume, but I'm not sure.

When she got back from the 2nd outing we played a bit of Bomberman 64 on Battle mode. It's been a few years (at least four or five, I'd guess) since we'd played. It's still pretty fun, but it seems to have lost something over the years. I just don't think anything can compare to Mario Kart Double Dash or Mario Kart DS. Anyway, Carrie made a snack tray of various meats, meunster cheese, and black olives to eat while we played.

The next couple of hours were spent getting the house ready for company. I put on Hudsucker Proxy in the background while Roomba ran around and Carrie made a chicken tortilla soup and margaritas.

But in order to make margaritas she needed tequila, so she sent me to the liquor store. As I pulled up to the red light at Starbucks I noticed Bead Babe and good friend Laura sitting outside reading a book. I tried to wave to get her attention but she was completely enthralled in that book, so I pulled out my phone and called her and we chatted for a bit while I drove to the liquor store. Oh, it turns out she and Brandy are also going to Snakes on a Plane tonight (Thursday)!

At 8:00 Brandy showed up with Pat to watch the Season Finale of So You Think You Can Dance. The four of us were soon joined by many others:
  • Cat
  • Heather
  • Lawrence
  • Melissa
  • Travis
  • Chris
  • Chris

All three Chrisses in one place! We all had a grand old time (except for Pat, who seemed to have a hard time stomaching the show) for the next couple of hours. The two finalists were Travis and Benji, and Brandy especially had a hard time with the fact that they called themselves "Tranji." It sounded too much like "Tranny" to her.

In the end Benji won. He was my favorite, so I'm okay with that.

Everyone pretty much filed out after the show ended. Pat practically could not wait to get out of there when he learned that Project Runway was on next. I cleaned up from the gathering (surprisingly easy to do; the use of paper plates and plastic forks was a godsend, as there were really only dirty soup bowls afterwards) and Carrie & I went to bed.

I had weird dreams during the night, including one almost-lucid dream (I dreamt that I was dreaming) that was just beyond my control, and at one point around 5:00 I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep for some time. So I'm kinda groggy today.

Dinning Room Closed !

Yesterday (Tuesday) I did a good, conscientious effort to keep ahead of encroaching house messes (i.e., I cleaned). I also worked on some work stuff.

Carrie had a split-shift. For lunch we had potstickers and beef tamales. Weird, I know, but we didn't mix them together or anything.

I took the PastaBot painting down to the Store and gave it to Gina. She seemed happy with it.

I worked all afternoon, taking a break to talk with Leia for a while, while Carrie napped. Then for din-dins I went down to MSM II and bought the "Mike's Deluxe" sammitch and a couple of root beers for din-dins, seeing as how we basically have no foodstuffs in the house.

I did get to watch a season 2 episode of Veronica Mars that evening. It feels like we're way into the 2nd half of the season now.

I picked Carrie up after her class and we stopped by Jack in the Box for terribly unhealthy food. There was work being done on the building, so the drive-through was the only part open. There were signs up saying that the dining room was closed. However, upon close inspection Carrie noticed that the hand-written signs actually said "Dinning Room Closed." I laughed and laughed and laughed.

Umm... Hmm. Yeah, yesterday seems pretty uneventful, really.

"Mama Mia, I Love-a the Pasta"

Yesterday (Monday) was the first day at the Bead Factory for two new Bead Babes! I haven't met them yet, but I'm excited. I'm not excited that they're the replacements for Brandy & Gretchen, though.

I'm rather excited, because yesterday I bought my tickets for the sneak-peak screening of Snakes on a Plane! It's at 10:00 PM at the Regal Lakewood Cinema 15. I suggest you ALL buy your tickets as soon as possible, because it will likely sell out. I'm actually surprised it hasn't yet.

Let's see... In the morning Carrie called me and had me dig through her beading stuff for some silver wire that Viki needed for a class. When I drove it down to the store I parked in front because there was a tonne of space. All the managers (of which Carrie is a member) were in the party room having a meeting with the new girls, so it was only Gina and Heather in the store proper, and I didn't even see Heather at first.

I went to the back and dropped the wire off on Carrie's desk. When I was walking through the store the adorably tiny Gina was helping a woman with the stone strands hanging from the front windows, but neither of them could really reach them. So I hung around and helped for a couple of minutes. I only dropped things twice!

I walked to Neighborhood Market and bought an apple, a banana, and a bottle of Gatorade, which was basically my lunch for the day. In the afternoon I painted my Painting of the Week #9, a special request from Gina to paint her a robot. I like the way it came out:

I think it's super cute! I added the heart dialogue box and the utensils on the table later in the evening; it seemed a little bare without them.

After I picked Carrie up from work we went to Party Zone and Target looking for invitations and plates and whatnot for Heather's bridal shower (the family-only one). I got a cool Donkey Kong T-shirt at Target. I'm really liking a lot of Target's clothes right now.

We swung by the Tarbets' on the way home to say hi and that we were glad they were back. We missed them!

Umm... there was some cleaning in the evening, but nothing much of note. Anticlimactic!

Gimmie a Break

I've decided to (kind of) take a break from teh intarwebs this week. What does that mean? For you, really nothing. For me, it means that I'll still write in this blog every day, but the only other sites I'll visit are ones for work, and any of my personal friends who have blogs of their own. I won't spend hours trawling through Fark or Wikipedia. I'll just update my own life and keep updated on my friends' lives.

Take a Pulse

Yesterday (Sunday) Carrie had to teach all day. Well, not ALL day, but basically from 9:00 until 6:00. That's a pretty long day.

After I got up and showered and made myself all human and what-not, I drove over to Stadium Thriftway and picked up a nice bundle of mini yellow daisies. I was having one of my not-hungry days yesterday, so I hadn't eaten breakfast yet. I picked up a cheese roll (a nice bread roll that has melted cheese all over the top of it - 50¢) in case I ever got hungro.

I drove the flowers up to Federal Way and gave them to Grandma K for her birthday! I wasn't able to go to her party on Saturday due to Fools Play, so Carrie & I thought that this would be a nice surprise. She was very surprised. As I was walking out I heard one of the cafeteria workers say, "That was so sweet." Awww...

Fools Play practice happened at my house. Mike & Taisha actually arrived 15 minutes early, while I was still washing dishes (even with the dishwasher, I have to wash all the pots & pans by hands), so I had Mike run Roomba and stuff like that until it was time to start. It was a dedicated FPRL practice; we came up with a new character for Taisha and worked out the moves for Mike's new character.

Carrie came home in the middle of practice for lunch. She made mandarin chicken, and she put her leftovers in a bowl with three toothpicks for us practicers. Taisha ate about half of the bowl, and I ate the other half.

After practice I ate half of a tiny little cinnamon loaf that Carrie's mom's friend Babe had made (she'd gone to the casino with everybody on Saturday). It was pretty good.

Carrie came home and a while later we started to drive to Bartell's to buy candy to bring into the movie theater. We were going to go see Pulse with Brandy! We'd tried calling Laura earlier to see if she wanted to go, but she didn't pick up. So when we started driving she called and said that she'd like to come to the movie. We said we'd pick her up and asked where she was. We'd just driven right past her!

So we swung around and picked her up in the Subway parking lot, and then the three of us went to Bartell's and bought candy. I selected Mike & Ikes.

We met Brandy at the theater and used coupons from our Entertainment Book to get the tickets for only $6 each. I'm going to write a review of Pulse (I swear! Honest!), so I won't talk about it here, other than to state that it was really fun going out to a movie with Carrie, Brandy, and Laura.

After the movie we drove Laura home, and that was basically it for the evening.

Theseus and Not the Minotaur

Yesterday (Saturday) Carrie took the car for the day 'cause it was her Grandma K.'s birthday party. She had to go pick up one of her mom's friends and then everybody went to the Muckleshoot Casino. 'Cause old ladies loves the gambling.

I ate Leia's leftover Chinese food for brunch. I seem to have really good luck with people leaving their leftovers at my house!

I was picked up by Leia and Kedar, who were a little late because they had to deal with a comically incompetent cashier or two at Fry's Electronics. We all went down to the Fools Play workshop, which was about find the game and focus. Alex was there as well.

After the workshop Mike, Leia, Kedar, and I went to Saphora's (sp?) and had gyros for din-dins, before going to Michael's (the store, not my brother's place) to buy a book of newsprint for the night's format: Fools Play Storybook!

Taisha told the story and Mike drew it. It was a retelling of Theseus, only ours had no minotaur, just giant chickens and pirates and Central American monsters. The show ran really, really long. Afterwards we went to Rib Eye as usual, and then Leia & Kedar drove me home.

Kick the Can

Yesterday (Friday) was a nice, social day for me. It started out uneventful enough, but Leia and I had planned that she would come down in the early afternoon and we would paint together. Well, we would paint separate pictures, but at the same time. Savvy?

I picked up Carrie for lunch and Leia called and said she'd be running a little late because she'd gotten involved in a tiny fender-bender on 405. Yikes! Nobody hurt, no damage to speak of to her car. She was understandably a little grumpy when she showed up. So we went out to lunch at that Chinese place on 6th Ave and had a couple of their lunch specials. I amazed us both by eating my entire plate of almond chicken, while she could only eat a third of her gigantic plate of chow mein.

We came back home, and I put on Veronica Mars for us to watch while we painted. Here's what Leia painted:

And here's what I painted: I call it "Kick the Can" and it's my Painting of the Week #8 (I'm almost caught up; I just have to paint one either Sunday or Monday and I'll be back in busyness):

That poor robot is so sad! Leia had never seen Veronica Mars before, so it was nice to introduce her to such an excellent show. We watched the entire first disc while painting, me giving her insanely tense back a backrub, and playing some Animal Crossing: Wild World. I caught two new types of bugs in her town!

During the course of that afternoon Sandy called both of us a couple of times, and we kept on browbeating her to try to get her to come down and hang out with us. In the end, she and Mathias decided to come down to T-town and have din-dins with me at Gateway to India, the bestest Indian restaurant evah. Leia decided not to join us, as she had to go back up north and deal with car accident stuff and what-not. So she dropped me off at the restaurant around 6:30.

Why didn't I drive myself? Because when Carrie got off work she stopped by the house for just a minute and then drove up to the Southcenter area to hang out with her friend Dawn, whom she hadn't seen in several years due to Dawn being out of the country. They had dinner together and then saw that dance movie Step Up.

So anyway, I was at Gateway to India by 6:30, and traffic coming down from Seattle was so bad that Sandy & Mathias didn't arrive until 7:00, after nearly two hours in the car. Yikes! We had a nummy din-dins and then the three of us went back to my house and watched Serenity. Sandy & Mathias had just finished watching the complete Firefly series, and so were itching to watch the movie that capped it all off. They loved it, of course.

Carrie came home towards the end of the movie, and not having yet watched the series excused herself. When it ended she came back and talked about the movie she'd seen. She liked it, which is no big surprise, but she said that several parts were (and I quote) "cheese-doggy-dogg" and that the acting was at times like a high school drama audition.

After Sandy & Mathias left to go home, Chris & Carrie went to bed.

Mum's the Word

Yesterday (Thursday) my mum came over and we went to lunch at that new pizza place on 6th Avenue diagonally across from Bartell's. I forget what it's called. At any rate, none of us got pizza. Mum got lasagna, Carrie got a chicken salad sammitch, and I got a chicken cordon bleu panini sammitch. They were all really, really good, and we brought leftovers home.

When I took Carrie back to teach her class I picked up her paycheck and ran it to the Fredy Meyer bonk. On the way out of Fred Meyer I wandered through the electronic section and noticed that Yoshi's Island for the GameBoy Advance was on sale for ten bucks! I snatched that mutha up! When I got home I finally got to see the first half of Harold & Kumar go to White Castle. I've decided that I like that movie.

Bringing Food to the Store

Yesterday (Wednesday) after I dropped off Carrie and brought her a coffee, I came back home and then went for a jog in the Linnea/Christine/Steph neighborhood (though nobody was home). Carrie had forgotten to bring a breakfast with her to work, so around 10:00 I sliced up some strawberries and some cheese and brought it down to her.

She called me to pick her up for lunch, and then almost immediately called me back to tell me she'd forgotten about two appointments she'd made, and could I instead bring a lunch down to her? (Good thing one of the customers showed up before I got to the store, else that would have been embarrassing!) I quickly made an enchilada and brought it down to the store.

Carrie was hoping to be able to come home in the afternoon anyway, but ended up being too busy, so she was plenny tired by the time she came home. Nap time! After nap time I made some potstickers for din-dins, and then went down to Neighborhood Market and bought some wine and some cookie fixin's. Then Carrie made chocolate chip cookies! Well, I should say that she started making them, but then got distracted with some jewelry inspiration, so I took over the making of them. Made a couple dozen.

We brought the cookies and wine over to Christine's for So You Think You Can Dance and Project Runway. Heather, Chris, Melissa, Travis, and Lawrence also came (and so did Rachel Lovejoy), not counting the people who already lived in the house. It was the season finalé of SYTYCD, and so afterwards everyone grabbed their phones and voted for their favorites. And for Project Runway we were all happy that Michael Knight won the Pam Grier challenge. Even without any help from K.I.T.T.!

So Tiny & Cute

Perhaps a world-record breaker for being tiny and cute! Click here to read the whole story.

And while neither tiny nor cute, this new creation is perhaps <sarcasm>the most useful robot ever invented in the history of history</sarcasm>. It can balance on a ball.

365 Days, I Really Love You So

Yes, I Love Egg. But yesterday (Tuesday) was also the one-year anniversary of the 2nd time I came home from the hospital, i.e., the last time I came home from the hospital. I have been hospital free for one year!

Around lunchtime Carrie called me and said I had two choices: I could come pick her up and bring her home and we could scrounge for lunch, or I could come down and the two of us could join Steph, Christine, Katie Stricker, and Katie F. for Chinese food. Katie F was leaving for the airport at like 3:00 that afternoon, so it would be our last chance to hang out with her.

Needless to say, we got in Steph's car with her and Katie F and went out to Chinese, at this place on 6th Ave that we've driven by countless times without much noticing. It is very classy inside, and the lunch specials are all under $6! I had chow mein with beef, chicken, shrimp, and what tasted like scallops. Carrie had chicken with a black bean sauce. The meals came with soup, rice, and an egg roll, too! Plus, the waitress brought us a plate of fried chicken on the house! 'Twas a good time, 'twas. They deliver, and they're a lot cheaper than ordering pizza.

Carrie went back to work and I came home and worked for a bit before picking Carrie up again. We ate our leftovers for dinner, and at 7:15 I left for capoeira in the park. Jefferson Park. On the way I stopped at Bartell's and bought a bottle of Gatorade®. I arrived at the same time as the girl Cory (Cori? Corri? Korri? Kory? Sp?) and in fact parked right behind her. We walked to the center of the park and waited to spot the other peoples. While we waited, we were amused by the high number of dogs running around. In particular there was a big, labrador-sized dog playing with a tiny terrier-sized dog that was very cute.

Eventually we spotted other people way in the opposite corner of the park from where we parked, so we walked over and joined them and did capoeira. There was Steph, Katie Striker, Jimmy, and a guy named Peter. For the last 15-20 minutes I was feeling really light-headed. I thought I'd eaten enough leftovers; I was plenny full and everything.

I drove home and hung out with my wife and watched a season 2 episode of Veronica Mars.

Did I mention that on Sunday I borrowed back the Nintendo 64 from my brother? I can't remember if I mentioned it or not. At any rate, Carrie and I also played some Mario Kart 64. It's really, really weird to play it. It all kinda comes back to you after a few minutes, but the controls are really, really strange. Not nearly as responsive as the Double Dash or DS controls. We played through Star and Speical cup, having played through Mushroom and Flower cups the night before. Then we shut down the house and went to bed.

Cleaning Spree

Yesterday (Monday) I took Carrie to work, only to return later in the morning to pick up a handout she made for Viki's class that evening.

When I finished the handout and brought it down to the store, the managers were busy interviewing new prospective Bead Babes. So I hung out with Gina for a bit (she wanted to make sure I mentioned her on my website here). I'm so glad she came and saw Fools Play! I wish I could get other people from the store to show up... Anyway, we decided that I'm going to paint her a picture of a robot. Should be good.

When I came home I painted. Not a robot, but PotW #7:

After work I quickly finished up the painting and then Carrie & I went for a walk in the area north of the Bead Factory. It was a pretty but hot day. I made gnocci for myself for dinner, and Carrie ate her leftover lunch curry. I ate too much of the gnocci, unfortunately, and felt kinda woogy for the rest of the evening, which was spent cleaning. Carrie cleaned the bedroom and living room, and I cleaned the kitchen (mostly).

Katie in T-Town

Our good friend Katie is back in town this weekend from law school, so yesterday (Sunday) Carrie & I went out to breakfast with her and Steph. We went to The Parkway, which only started serving breakfast about six months ago, and only serves it from 9:00 to noon on Saturday & Sunday. So six hours a week of breakfast. The menu is a whole bunch of scrambles, biscuits & gravy, and a breakfast sammitch, plus a daily special. The special yesterday was pancakes. I got the biscuits & gravy, which was rather tasty; they put green peppers and such in the gravy, which gave it an interesting back flavor. The Parkway also offers "special" hash browns: for a dollar extra, they put sauteéd onions, peppers, cheese, and sour cream into the hash browns. They taste really, really good. Prices were very reasonable (even with coffee & juices it still only came to about $34 for all four of us), but for some reason it took forever to make our meals. Seriously. By the time we'd eaten it was basically time for me to go to practice.

Practice we worked on FPRL. We created a new character (whose identity I shall not divulge) and figured out how to modify Halloran to be a flexible single rassler. It worked pretty well!

Carrie meanwhile went over to the Lovejoy homestead and helped Heather make invitations for her wedding. There was a store meeting around dinnertime as well, so she wasn't home when I got home. I had an apple, a banana, a pepperoni stick, and a string cheese for din-dins, and then got to work doing laundry.

Katie was going to be having a get-together at Christine & Steph's house (where she was staying), so after Carrie came home from the meeting we went straight there, but nobody had shown up yet. And we do mean nobody. The front door was locked and there was nobody home.

So we ran over to Trader Joe's and got our week's shopping done, went home and put it all away, and then went to the house. Katie wasn't there yet, but Christine, Katie S., and Lawrence were there to let us in at least. Katie & Steph showed up shortly thereafter.

I took Carrie home after not too long on account of she was exhausted, but then I came back to the party. Brandy, Carly, Melissa, and Travis all eventually showed up as well. It was a pretty good time, but I ended up leaving around 11:00 so I could get a good night's sleep.

It was all in vain, though, because from about 5:00 onward Fantastico would not stop bothering me. She kept waking me up every few minutes by walking on me, rubbing my face, and all that sort of thing.

The Espionager Can Drive Better Than James Bond

Yesterday (Saturday) Carrie went up to Fife to babysit the kids and their new dog, and there was much drama involved in that, which had me at one point drive my car down to the store and leave a key for Mark, and then walk back home.

I was picked up by my brother and we went down to do the Fools Play Workshop. Leia and Kedar came but did not really participate so much. This workshop was focusing on story, specifically BMET and its variants. We all invented a new one, called BCSET.

Mike & I went and grabbed dinner at a restaurant whose name I cain't umember now. It was way outta the way on the waterfront across from Olympia proper. I had a steak sammitch that was really good, but I stuffed myself a little too much.

We came back and performed an Exhibition, which included a new recurring character: The Espionager!
"I keep all my secret documents in a safe under my desk. One day I opened the safe and The Espionager was in there, holding all of my files! He turned the key in the ignition of his car and drove off. I never saw him again"

Very exciting was the fact that Brandy came, and brought with her a Bead Babe, the delightful Gina! That makes, oh, about four Bead Babes that have seen the show? Something like that...

We all went out to Rib Eye after the show, and then Leia & Kedar drove me home.

Errandious

Carrie took yesterday (Friday) afternoon off from work so the twain of us could do stuff together. We drove to Sonja's so carrie could give her more earrings to sell, but she was closed (she was also closed the day before—what gives?). We then swung by Ever After to drop off a repair, and then we trekked up to Ikea.

The reason we went to Ikea was to buy some picture frames that would go really well with my "Robot & Bird" series of drawrings. But they didn't have them in the 8 x 10 size, and they only had four colors (including black and white) in the 5 x 7 size, so that was kinda disappointing. We did, however, still manage to buy some $70 worth of stuff. We also ate yummy meatball meals.

In the evening Laura had a little party with lots of her college-aged friends. We stayed until about 10:20. Carrie felt a little uncomfortable around a whole bunch of college-aged people, whereas to me that's the Fools Play audience demographic, so I'm used to (and rather enjoy) hanging around people like that.

それは困難なダンスである

Yesterday (Thursday) was quite a buy day, it would seem. For me, at least.

After I took Carrie to work I came home and immediately got to work on her class handout. I took the printout down to her and she made a couple of changes, which I drove back home and implemented. People were over here painting the exterior (of the garage this time), so after I dropped it off I went and hung out with Brandy at the Tarbets' house for just a bit.

During her split-shift, Carrie tried to go to a store that has her jewelry so she could give them more, but they were closed. Who is closed on a Thursday afternoon? Huh? Also in the afternoon I created a handout for one of Melissa's classes. I finished around 5:00, and then Carrie & I walked to Starbucks and then the Neighborhood Market (where I bought a banana and an apple, and Carrie bought cheese) and then back home just in time for Melissa to stop by and pick up the handout.

Carrie made a good sausagey dinner, although I haven't had much in the way of appetite these past couple of days.

After I took Carrie to teach her class I drove straight to the gas station so as not to run out of the gas, and then to Fred Meyer's to buy kitty litter. I got home and stretched for about ten minutes before Brandy showed up and we went to Capoeira at Barefoot Studios. Steph was there, as well as about four other students, so more people than I'd even done Capoeira with before. When we walked in one of the students there asked me, "Are you one of the Fools?"

After I confirmed Brandy laughted and asked what if he were wrong? That could make for an awkward question!

Anyhoo, Capoeira kicked my ass. But it was lots of fun, and I didn't get injured or anything. Brandy got an enormous blood blister on her toe, but I think that was the extent of the injuries. There was one move that I just could not get down, where you put one hand on the ground with one leg behind you, and then switch to Negativa. I could do it if I was just doing it, but I couldn't do it from the Ginga.

After Brandy brought me back home I did exciting stuff like take the garbage to the curb and write yesterday's website entry and just try to catch my breath as much as possible. When Carrie came home she drew a bath for me and set up the portable DVD player so I could watch The Rundown. Very nice of her! I like her!

Paint Fumes

Ugh... I jjust got back from capoeira, so you'll have to forgive any typos; I'm a little shaky right now. But more on that tomorrow.

Umm... Wednesday, yes? Yes. Yesterday was Wednesday. In the morning I had a meeting with Viki, who has some very ambitious intarweb plans that involve me, so I am very happy about that. It should keep me nice and busy all through August and September, and then I'll have much more content to upkeep than now even, so that should help me coast a little bit easier. June and July were not very good months for me monetarially. July always is pretty bad, because everything is about getting ready for the PSBF, and then after the PSBF everything is about coming down from the PSBF, so I don't often get very much work.

Anyhoo, after the meeting I actually jogged a little. I know! I made a total of a one-mile round trip, and I guess I probably jogged for a third of it? But one stretch is up this really, really steep hill, so that counts, no?

I actually worked out quite a bit, lifting weights and all. I seem to remember doing some work as well, though now I can't quite recall what.

But the big thing that happened was that a group of Asian people came over and painted the exterior of our house! Wow! It's dark outside right now, but I'll take a picture of it tomorrow and post it in the space below:

It was pretty crazy. And a lot of fumes. In fact, after lunch I had to go for a walk just to get away from the fumes. I ended up walking to the Bead Factory, where Carrie had driven the car, close to the time that she got off work, so she just drove me home.

She and Laura went shopping and bought fixin's for chicken salad. They swung by and picked me up and we went over to Laura's and fixed up the fixin's. The chicken was really, really good! All Carrie did was season it with salt, pepper, and olive oil and put it in a pan over medium-high heat. The outside of the chicken was all golden brown and it was all juicy and delicious. Magnificent! It was fun to hang out with Laura.

But why did we make chicken salad, you might be asking (play along, please)? Because at 8:00 we went over to Cat's to watch Project Runway and So You Think You Can Dance! I love these (almost) weekly Wednesday get-togethers. Let's see, there was:
  • Me (duh)
  • Carrie
  • Laura
  • Lawrence
  • Christine
  • Brandy
  • Heather
  • Chris Fantz
  • Cat (duh)
  • Laura's roommate Caroline
  • Melissa
  • Travis

Everybody kind of came and went as they pleased, arriving and leaving at different times. Carrie, Brandy, and I were the last ones to leave I believe. It was after 11:00.

Drop-on-By

Yesterday (Tuesday) was a pretty uneventful day. At least, from what little I can recall of it. Jeez. I finished up Carrie's new class handout and walked it down to the store for proofreading. I then walked back home and made the changes, but then I drove it back to the store just in an effort to save some time.

Nobody came to paint the house yet, so it still looked like a Katrina refugee (minus the water damage).

Speaking of Katrina refugees...

After I took Carrie to the store in the evening so she could teach her class, I got really restless and so decided to go for a walky. I ended up walking in the Linnea/Christine neighborhood. There was nobody at the Linnea house due to them being outta town (although Brandy is supposedly watching their house while they're gone, but she wasn't there either). But when I walked by the Christine/Steph house I saw someone jumping up and down and waving at me through the window.

So I was invited in and watched a couple episodes of Gilmore Girls with Christine, Katie Stricker, and Lawrence (Katrina refugee). They gave me a cider and everything, which was very nice. Katie's cat Mo is a complete attention hog (Katie calls him a slut); he kept on climbing all over my lap even though we'd just met. Steph wasn't home (she was at Capoeira—which I'll be attending on Thursday), but it was nice to hang out with everybody else at that house and I was given a standing drop-on-by invitation as I left.

Carrie's class went long—well, it didn't actually go long, but she did end up being there until about 10:30. I then drove Laura back to her house before bringing Carrie home, and by then it was close to 11:00 at night. I watched an episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse on Cartoon Network (at least they play cartoons during it) and we went to bed.

Power Washing!

Yesterday (Monday) I started to feel a little bit better, which is goot. Carrie let me sleep in until 10:30 or so, which is also goot (except that I had a hard time falling asleep last night at night as a direct result).

In the morning someone came and power-washed the house in preparation for re-painting. The house now looks absolutely awful. Check it out:

Horrible! By the way, the color scheme we decided on is as follows: Manatee Grey for the main body of the house; Quiet Light for the trim; and Burgundy for the accents (all colors are Glidden Exterior).

After I took Carrie back to the store (after lunch) I dropped off her paychecks at the Fred Meyer bonk and came home. For some reason the day completely flew by. I would turn around and suddenly two hours would have passed! I di'n git hardly nuthin' dunn.

Carrie went for a walk with Laura after work, while I took a grateful nap. I were tired! I were still sick! When she came home she made a really delicious chicken vegetable soup. She cooked some bacon in the pan before she made the soup, so it had a really nice smokey flavor. Also she grated up some pepper-jack cheese to sprinkle into it, which made it nice and spicy and helped clear up my sinuses some. The soup was so good, in fact, that we ended up eating the whole entire pot in that one evening.
