I got to install a printer at work! I'm good at doing stuff like that. After work I got Carrie for lunch and made us both sammitches on her urging. After I took her back to work I dropped off my Thirsty Robots order at the Neighborhood Market post office, then headed to SafeWay to pick up that which I did not pick up the day before.
In the afternoon I took down the exterior Christmas lights (yes, they were still up—so what?) and started shoveling out the path to our front door. It were difficult work!
I picked Carrie up from work at 4:00 and took her home, then jaunted back to SafeWay to pick up one last thing she needed. When I returned home I set Roomba loose in the living room and helped Carrie cook and clean while continually clearing the front pathway using a shovel, a push broom, and boiling water. It still took quite a while.
Carrie's mom came over some time after 5:00 and I made her an apple martini while Carrie continued to cook. Around 6:00 everybody else showed up: Carrie's Dad, Grandma, and Great Aunt.
Then we had the bestest frickin' meal EVAR:
- First Course:
- Crab bisque
- Salad:
- Greek salad with tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, and feta cheese
- Main course:
- Tomato & goat cheese quiche
- Roasted carrots with parsley, lemon juice, and olive oil
- Wines:
- Chenin blanc
- Fumé blanc
Carrie made it all almost completely by herself and it was all absolutely amazing, especially the bisque. REAL crab!
After dinner she and her family all started playing a card game, and I went to work on dessert: fresh, hot, sweet applesauce. It also turned out to be quite, quite delicious.
Their card game lasted until after 9:00, so I started sneaking away to watch the Mythbusters Pirate Special. Everyone packed up and left between 9:15 and 9:30, and then I turned on Mythbusters out in the living room and relaxed while Carrie went in the bedroom and watched Top Chef and relaxed. We ran the dishwasher, which was good because we dirtied practically every dish in the house making this dinner. Oh, and Carrie also made some biscuits around this time.
At almost 11:00 Christine & Lawrence came over after Christine's class, and we all had another cup of the soup and some biscuits and some wine, and hung out until close to midnight.
